Double doors, one locked. Wtf?? - Tip of the Hat. Wag of the Finger*

*see **(below)

RE recent thread of the same name in the GQ forum. TIP OF THE HAT to SDMB moderator Colibri for throwing a lock on the double doors of this overdone discussion in the GQ forum. I know he suggested opening another thread in IMHO, but I thought MPSIMS would be more appropriate, since most of the O’s are not so H, and most of the M’s, including the OP, might be called A-HO’s. And the whole issue of one locked double door is after all pretty M and P.

However, I must give a big WAG OF MY FINGER to dontbesojumpy for this statement:

I take big umbrage, jumpy, with your use of “everyone”. Not to split hairs, but I am the one who started the thread, and I did so in hopes of finding a logical reason why people do something that I find (a little) “annoying”. I did not, however, in any way intend to contend in that thread, this one, or elsewhere, that I think the people who do the thing I find (a little) annoying do so because they are “lazy”. I just knew there had to be a virtuous reason, and I wanted to know what that was. I now salute with a big TIP OF THE HAT these dedicated hard-working not-unlocking-one-side-of-a-double-door small business owners/managers as true heroes for saving us all from the stack effect.

If you recall, dontbeso, my original question was WTF?? Thanks to your edification, I can now drop one “?” and downgrade that question to “WTF?” Why still “?”? Or, indeed, why still “W”, and not just “TF”, which is all that I would mutter, to myself, out of (mild) annoyance, every time I pulled on the locked side of a double door IF the reason why that door is locked made perfect sense to me? Well, because, as logical as stack effect avoidance is, there is still one thing I don’t quite understand:

WTF?

So let me get this straight, nt: When business is slow, stack effect avoidance is paramount. But when things pick up, and there’s money to be made, it’s stack effect be damned! By your own admission you are perfectly happy to let both doors swing freely and widely - and thereby put customers AND employees at the mercy of the marauding stack effect, which, while reigning terror on the peons, is now blowing you stacks of moolah through the doors!! Oh, no, my friend, I do not for one second think you are “lazy” - and certainly not “absent minded”. You know EXACTLY what you are doing! A big TIP OF THE HAT to you, my friend, for putting profits paramount and not being intimidated by any stinking stack effect. I now reupgrade my question to “WTF??”, and then immediately edit it to the interjection “WTF!!”

I once dreamed of being a professional enterist. I was entranced by entrances and took intense interest in them. I infiltrated enclaves of entrance enthusiasts, and they instructed me. I would entertain numerous individuals with enchantingly numinous amateur entrances. However, the incessant intermittent moderately irritating annoyance of encountering innumerable immovable ingresses eventually infected my aptitude and made it impure. So I threw in the towel. Now I offer an enormous TIP OF THE HAT to the intrepid individuals who endured the insults and made eventual entrance into the Enterist Big Leagues. I for one whole-heartedly support their inalienable right to earn obscenely enormous renumerations.

**All intended in pure mundane and pointless fun. Especially to dontbesojumpy - no offence intended.
