If not my college Music Appreciation professor, God rest his soul, would never have forgiven me!:o
Was your college Music Appreciation professor a member of the PFJ, or one of those JPF splitters?
I don’t know what his affiliations were. He told us he was born on an Arizona cattle ranch. He bore a strong resemblance to actor Martin Balsam.
Tom Owen?
Ah. Popular Front, then.
He is the black comedian in this Whose Line is it Anyways clip.
K, now I’ma need a reference. Who’s Martin Balsam?
Calvin Greer. Did you go to El Camino too?
Not that I know of.
He was a movie actor; he was in * Catch-22 *; Anthony Perkins kicked him down the stairs in * Psycho; * he was Juror #1 in * 12 Angry Men; * and he was Murray, Archie ’ s partner, on * Archie Bunker ’ s Place. *
In Hebrew, as in Isaiah 9:6: El Gibbor, “Mighty God” (prophecy about Jesus). El Shaddai refers only to Jehovah and means “Almighty God.”

What is the difference between a “mighty god” and an “almighty god”? And what about Jesus being the archangel Michael?

Compare the definitions of El Gibbor and El Shaddai in Dr. James Strong ’ s Hebrew and Chaldee Dictionary.
Ah, thank you.
And what about Jesus being the archangel Michael, a created being?

Yep. 1974-1977.
Calvin Greer was evidently before my time. TBH, I’m not even sure if Owen taught Music Appreciation. My wife had him for Jazz Appreciation, though.
No, I was in Dr. Greer ’ s class in Fall 1983. Apparently he died about 1990. I also took Piano with Dr. James Hurd (he looked like Ted Lange of * Love Boat). *and Professor June Lusk Nelson.
See Revelation 3:14, the last phrase.
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.”
Really? In the KJV, Westcott and Hort’s text, and Strong ’ s Concordance the phrase is “beginning” (Greek, arche) of the creation of God. "
When God confounded language at the Tower of Babel, he screwed up big time. He made it impossible for His Word to be accurately translated.
