Downunder is awash with godless, curry eating, millennial migrants

The results of the most recent (2021) Australian 5 year census are now being released.

Australia is growing quickly, principally through immigrations and is more diverse and less religious than 2016.

Australia’s population was 25,766,605 at 31 December, 2021
An increase of 8.6 per cent since the 2016 census

The average Australian fits the demographic:

  • A female
  • aged 30-39 years
  • living in a coupled family with children
  • living in the greater capital city area
  • An average weekly family income of $3,000 or more.

Two-thirds of households own their home.

At home, and other than English, the most commonly used languages were Mandarin, Arabic, Vietnamese, Cantonese and Punjabi.

91 per cent of households reported having at least one vehicle and more than half reported having two or more vehicles.

Millennials now equal boomers as a proportion of the population.

48.2 per cent of Australians reported having a parent born overseas.
27.6 per cent of Australian reported as being born overseas
India has become the third-largest country of birth

Fewer than half of Australians identified as Christian.
The number of Australians who said they had no religion rose to 38.9 per cent.
The number of people claiming to be Jedi fell in 2021.

Curry is yummy.

I feel someone should mention the indigenous Australians…

Sure, just follow the link to the ABS, read from any of the cross-section of topics that appeal and post a extract of what you think is illuminating.

Or are you saying someone else should do that?

The statistics you mentioned all seem to refer to previous generations of settlers - I wondered if the original inhabitants were included in the census.

Of course they are included, and have a section that is particular to them.

Information on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples including language and ancestry

This is too high.

I’m not seeing anything in there that comes out to that figure.

In 2019–20, the average equivalised disposable household income was $1,124 per week.

That’s in AUD, so if maybe you meant disposable income of USD 3,000 per month that would be about right.

I think the average weekly family income would be somewhat less than $2,000 a week. The median personal income is $805 per week. My other quibble with the OP is that less than one third of people (mostly older) own their own homes. More are paying them off than actually own them.

Keep the curry. I want one of those halal snack packs the Aussies are keeping from us.

Yeah, I don’t know.
