Dr Doom’s armorvs Iron Man’s armor- Which is going to kick more ass?
I’m gonna go with Iron Man’s Armor if we’re going for their regular stuff. Doom’s greatest abilities have always been his mind and his (more recently I suppose) magical artsy stuff.
The Iron Man Armor seems better equipped at the start to handle issues. However, if Doom KNEW he was to face an Iron Man Armor suit, I think he could certainly modify his armor to take advantage of the situation.
But if it was just a random Redshirt in Doom Armor vs. a Random Redshirt in Iron Man Armor- I’m gonna take the one that has the computer and the missiles and such things.
If it’s Doom vs. Stark- That’s a harder question. I’d say Doom should be more likely to win if he’s prepared for this fight.
Dr. Doom. Armour beats armor every time.
Stark wins because in comics the good guy usually wins by the last act.
It typically takes several super heroes at a time to go toe to toe with Doom. Iron Man wouldn’t stand a chance.
It’s a tougher question that it seems on the face of it. While there’s a general rule that one-on-one Dr. Doom is going to have the best stuff Iron Man’s armor typically has seen more effective use. You could think of Dr. Doom’s armor as the A-Team’s van and Iron Man’s as KITT; KITT will win in a race but when it comes to being transformed into a death machine off screen and smashing through a barn door the A-Team’s van is better.
I think if you took their “everyday wear”, placed some generic but skilled drivers in them, and placed them up against each other Iron Man’s would win. On the other hand with von Doom and Stark driving I’d give the edge to Doom since he’d be able to adapt more quickly than Stark.
Doom’s armor contains the more exotic technologies, a showcase for his intellect, so to speak. Stark’s is more “on point”–that is, his is designed for more rugged use as a battlefield weapon.
So… Victor von Doom, if he’s prepared?
Doom also has superior defenses, in general. His offense, while impressive personally, tends to be supplemented by outside forces: emplaced weapons, doombots, troops, and so on. Armor versus armor, Doom’s is tougher, Iron Man’s is more offensive. Given equal skill pilots, Iron Man wins, but one on one, Doom versus Stark, it’s a stalemate until either Doom outegos himself and loses, or outsmarts Stark and wins.
It’s been a good while since I’ve read the comic books, but I’d say that, armor vs armor, Iron Man wins.
Character versus character? Doom.
Doom is always prepared. Even for Batman.
Batman could still beat him, though, because the flaw in the preparations… is Doom.
With prep Doom beats Batman.
I’ve always thought IM’s armour is better but does Doom get to use magic because then he is even more formidable. Also, doesn’t his armour have a built in time travel device?
I’m not the most knowledgeable, but isn’t that a problem for both of them?
Nah. Tony’s problem is more paranoia. He’s afraid of what other people might do. See: The Armor Wars, f’r example, let alone the more recent stuff. “Does Kennedy Tell Khrushchev?” was his slogan for the longest time.
I’m looking back to when Doom actually fought Stark, too. The Camelot arcs, for example. Doom won, at least partially, a few times there.
Also- Has Tony been Drinking?
Depends. Do armor-based Vodka IV’s count as drinking?
In general, and this applies outside of comics as well, when comparing some thing, go for the guy who makes that one thing his entire schtick. The whole Doom package (armor, magical powers, bg friggin’ army) beats Iron Man, but when it comes to just the armor, well, Iron Man is the armor guy.
Can Doom generate an EMP? And how long will it take before Iron Man’s armor(and Tony himself) come back online?
Depends on the writer, but generally ‘magnetically shielded force field’ protects against EMP. Remember, it’s a cloth-like suit (or liquid) made solid by magnetic fields.
