Scientists overwhelmingly support GMO food safety, and have done so for many years. CRISPR, which Goodall also vehemently opposed, is revolutionizing treatment of genetic diseases and breaking new ground in organ transplantation, along with other uses. Biotech bans based on fearmongering rather than science have real-world negative consequences for many people. We wouldn’t have Casgevy, a revolutionary treatment for sickle cell disease if those attacking CRISPR had their way.
One can also appreciate that Goodall’s legacy is complicated, and not all of it is good.
