So there I was watching CNN at work this morning, and I look up to see Dr. Sanjay Gupta waving around a rather large phallus on the screen. The volume was turned down so I couldn’t tell at first what this, um… device was for.

Turns out it’s a portable ultrasound thingy in the shape of a large phallus. Go ahead and look for yourself if you don’t believe me.

If you find those screen shots as exciting as I did, no doubt you’ll want to see the entire video clip, where the good doctor manhandles the phallus, teases the tip with his finger and rubs the the tip up and down his chest. CNN anchor Kiran Chetry is clearly enthralled.

It even comes with a tiny attached video display so you can watch your favorite porn clips while you stimulate yourself.

Actually, it’s the little mini-screen part that is different from a regular ultrasound…the ones you typically see are huge machines that pretty much stay put in the doctor’s office. The phallus-looking part pretty much looks like the wand they typically rub on a pregnant belly to see what’s inside, at least in my experience

They do also have truly dildo-shaped wands for “internal” ultrasounds, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like…they put a condom on it, ask you to insert it yourself, and then they twist it around in there to get a good look (I’ll pretend that I don’t know this firsthand, and just say that I’ve heard it can be rather uncomfortable in more ways than one). They do it this way very early in pregnancy, or if they want to get a certain view of your ovaries.

That’s nice of them. Do they give you a bit of lube, too, like with the PAP smear?

You know, I think they must use a lubricated condom…I wasn’t really thinking about that at the time!

Makes sense. I was just looking at the phallus and feeling a little…ah…overwhelmed at the thought of getting that inside.

Oh, no, the one they use for the internals isn’t shaped like that…it’s shaped like a dildo (well, not exactly like one…it’s not “lifelike,” it’s just the same general size & shape).
