touche!
Asking lekatt for a cite is like asking an Eskimo for an air conditioner - he doesn’t have one and doesn’t see the need for it anyway.
Here is his explanation (paraphrased a bit):
His philosophy of raising children was too permissive and did not provide adequate discipline. His critics would say he excused all manners of misbehavior as normal.
A recent University of Cal at Berkeley says use positive encouragement and spanking to get the best outcome.
He also recoomends as a better authority a one James Dobson.
Yes, the same Dr. who writes that my son will likely end up in jail simply because he doesn’t have a father (thru no fault of mine, I can’t go out and rope one in).
Scripture is all we need for info on anything including child rearing.
Well.
There it is.
His explanation.
You should have tried spanking instead G
Dr. Dobson does NOT say that a boy growing up without a father WILL end up in jail. He does say that the absense of a father (or mother) -figure increases the risks of problem behavior in children.
Btw, Dobson’s no big fan of spanking either. He’s not against it, and he is against trying to outlaw it, but every time I’ve heard him mention it, it’s only recommended as a last resort.
Vanilla, I can’t imagine that a thoughtful, erudite person such as yourself attends a church led by someone like that.
From Mad magazine – sometime during the Vietnam War:
The cartoon shows Spock marching with a peace sign, followed by a crowd of hairy hippies, etc., also carrying signs.
Mad was never politically or socially conservative. I think they just couldn’t resist an easy shot.
Dr Spock also had liberal views on cannabis and sex education. That never helps to endear one to the religious right.
Why thank you! I can use compliments.
Well he doesn’t lead it, he’s an elder.
The pastor is a nice southern guy.
I am truly the only non-Republican there.
He considers the Green party waaaaay to the left.
To me, they are just about right(Nader notwithstanding).
what? He thought they should be combined?
