Did you play Dragon Age: Origins?
You can just kick her out of the whole Inquisition if you want to. Cole too. That’ll only leave you with one rogue but Varric is awesome and ranged rogue AI is a lot better so it’s not a problem.
I was impressed that melee rogue AI is actually half decent now, compared to DA:O where Zevran was a complete waste of a companion slot.
Oh? I haven’t tried it yet myself, but I’ve heard others complain that if you want a dagger rogue in the team you’ll have to play him/her yourself or you’ll just have 3 players and a corpse half the time.
AI plays my dps warrior decently in normal fights, though. Sometimes better than me given it has no reaction speed lag in moving around.
I like blackwall, but mostly because he reminds a lot of

Nigel Terry in Excalibur. Love me some Nigel Terry in medieval epics
So I’m about to close the breach with the help of my new mage friends. . This will be, I’m assuming the end of Act I and probably My first face to face with the elder one.
However, I’ve only explored about 70% of the Hinterlands, and most of the Oasis. I’m thinking of doing at least some of the Coast and possibly The mire area where some soldiers were lost.
Any compelling reason to wait until I do some more side stuff, or should I push on? The main thing I’m starting to feel right now is the deficiency of my equipment. Loot drops have been pretty poor so far even though I’m level 8. I’m thinking it might be because I haven’t moved the story along.
Well, don’t let me oversell it or anything; ranged is usually still better. But Cole does better than Zevran did (who played like a dagger wielding warrior in cheap armor). I think the flanking/backstab radius is larger and DA:I rogues get more “get out of trouble” abilities than they did in DA:O. He’s still squishy but at least it feels like he’s contributing without complete micromanagement.
Have you been crafting? In Act I, my crafted stuff was almost always superior to the drops except for the occasional rare drop that was roughly equal to my crafted gear. And that was with Tier I crafting stuff. You can find Tier II stuff in the desert and Mire and I believe in parts of the Storm Coast which will give it a little extra bump. Biggest issue is the rarity of crafting schematic drops. you can buy some in VR but they’re pricey.
I’d push on. This game has a ton of side stuff to do at any point you want and IMO the pace is better if you do a story mission every now and then instead of doing everything you can before progressing the story. You can check the level range before committing to the next mission and if you are in the middle or near the top of the range then it’s a good time to proceed.
Iron Bull also just happens to be voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr. Part of me regrets not romancing him first instead of romancing Dorian, though I suppose I can do that on another playthrough.
I’m flirting with everybody right now.
I’m a slut.
I wonder if that comes back to bite me in the behind, like it did in Mass Effect.
I’ve only been romancing Dorian, so I can’t say for sure, but from what I’ve read online, you can flirt to your heart’s content, but once you go beyond a certain point romancing a single character, the others will rebuff you beyond simple flirtation. It’s sad really, as I think a Dorian/Iron Bull/Male Inquisitor three-way could be fun (given the disdain of free mages and Tevinter by the Qunari, and vice versa).
Also, Bioware really needs to get their DirectX calls fixed. The game keeps crashing to the desktop for me now, even though I’ve got both Multi-sampling and Post-processing AA turned off.
There’s a Reddit thread somewhere titled something like, “Get the fuck out of the Hinterlands,” and it’s right. Once you move the story past the first main bit, the game opens WIDE the hell open.
There’s a really annoying bug that’s affecting all platforms. Here’s the super vague non-spoilery version:
Shortly after the game opens wide up and you move to the second “main hub” location, you get an opportunity to either use a “default” thing or use a “customize it to look familiar to you” thing. If you customize it, then your Herald’s voice will change to the default male British accent and you will have to backtrack to a previous save. So don’t use the customized version despite the fact that you’ll really want to.
Here’s the spoiled version. It’s not a BIG spoiler, but it is a neat little turn of events.
Hawke shows up! Don’t customize him to look like YOUR Hawke or the above will happen.
The M/M options aren’t all that great either. I mean, I laud Bioware for even including actual gay NPCs (as opposed to bisexual ones), but why does it have to be some seedy Spaniard with a porn 'stache? Even in the other games the gay options were a little too feminine for my tastes. Zevran, the very lithe, promiscuous stereotype. Fenris wasn’t much better, and Anders was too mopy. When can we get a strong, masculine, attractive, just plain hot gay romance?
The ladies get Josephine, Cullen and Isabella. All three extremely strong, hot characters. We get a skinny Ron Jeremy? I want to see Cullen bent over a hay stack please.
So, like some Legolas/Aragorn?
Aragorn would do. As would Boromir, Thor, Iron Man, or any other strong, confident, hot male character. Kaiden from ME3 was perfect to me, so it’s not like Bioware doesn’t know how. It’s just that in a fantasy setting, they seem to think that all characters need to be outlandish.
What, Iron Bull not strong and confident enough for you?
Strong and confident, yes, but I have a very different definition of ‘horny’ than Bioware, apparently.
But,But, there are loose ends! That quest is right over there, and some other quest is just the other direction. And I saw a rift somewhere I haven’t gotten to yet, I can’t leave now!
Has anyone tried the multiplayer yet? I tried to get on earlier and couldn’t connect to anything at all.
