Several surprises in the official DVD version of the series.
Most disappointing was the absense of the unaired episode that had been advertised as being on the DVD’s. The commentary (what I listened to anyway) was also disappointingly bad.
Most surprising was the decision to show it “uncensored” - all the profanity and nudity that was bleeped or blurred in the broadcasts are uncut in the DVD. I figured they’d do a “uncut” version and a “broadcast” version.
I was also surprised by the absense of any dubbing or subtitle options. They’re pretty standard nowadays.
The DVD’s also had to change some of the background songs in the shows. Why is this still happening? Can’t the producers negotiate DVD rights when they get broadcast rights? Is it that much more of an expense?
I also found at least one scene was altered. In the “The Other Cousin” the people on the bus have been changed to parodies of the cast.
The best news is the show is starting its second season this month.
