Dream Duets, or two are better than One.

This is another of those music threads. Pretty safe topic around here.

Pick two singers, pick a writer, backup band, anything you need. This one is for that duet you’d kill to hear, if only to see how it would actually sound.

My Pick? Meat Loaf and Celine Dion, doing a Jim Steinman song. Or David Coverdale and Steve Perry.

How about Selena and Mariah teaming up for me!!!

Come to daddy!

Henry Rollins performed “We are 138” on stage with the Misfits on the “Evilive” record, and I’ve been wanting to here Rollins and Glenn Danzig team up again ever since. Danzig is so euphonious and majestic, and Rollins is so primal and raw, it makes for an intriguing combination.

The backup band would be Jerry Only and Doyle from the Misfits, Greg Ginn from Black Flag, and Robo on drums (he was in both bands).

They would alternate between Misfits and Black Flag songs, and would be the punk rock supergroup that never formed, but could have kicked any other bands to the ground.

Janet Jackson and Prince. The orginal Miss Nasty’s teaming up would be heaven for me. I think hearing them do “Raspberry Beret” or possibly “Love Will Never Do” would be cool, although I’d prefer some new material.

Edith Piaf and Judy Garland.

Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith.

And my dream trio: Crosby, Columbo, and Vallee!

Dave Matthews and Jimmy Buffet singing Why don’t we get drunk and…

Criminy, argyle…you just described my dream date!

and screw??

A guy did this at my school’s Say What Karaoke competition, with a blow up doll. Surprisingly enough, he did not make it to the final round.

But it was funnnnnnnny!! I’ve got pictures I will always cherish!!

Just once, I’d like to hear Dolly Parton and Cher sing together.

Has there already been a Meatloaf/Celine Dion duet? There’s certainly some female background singer on Bat out of Hell II that sounds a lot like Dion.
