Dream Theater cover...watch this!

Wow, I feel so old.

Holy Crap! Here’s another 'tween-ish band doing a Tool song!

That’s pretty amazing. Doing Dream Theater is no easy feat.

I liked the drummer in the Dream Theater vid. Looked like he was having a blast.

Same kid, at least on the vocals. I love their version of this song. Talented kids.

Very cool; I wish they had chosen a more mature voice for the vocals; not her fault though, she did a great job.

I love her voice, especially on the Tool song. I think she injects a lot of emotion, charisma, and understanding into a song about a difficult concept, especially for one so young. I think she’s going to be a talent to watch as she gets older.

Oh yeah, I didn’t notice it was the same singer. She looks quite a bit older in the Tool cover.

I just watched the end credits and she changed last names between the DT and Tool videos. I Googled Kala Rose and got results for both names. She has her own band.

Chain Of Fools

Judging by the audio and video production, someone is backing them to the hilt. Always gives me a bit of pause - there’s a fine line between giving them a real chance and over-stage-managing. Interesting to see what they do with it.

I’m on break at work so I didn’t have time to read much but here’s a link to the O’Keefe Music Foundation that produced the videos.

Yeah, I know. I shoot concerts by various locations of the School of Rock, so I know what kids are capable of playing. I have no doubt these kids can play these songs, but the overly fussy production makes it less credible. All of the videos on my channel are live, multi-camera concert shoots, and nothing has been edited or overdubbed.

Here’s one of my favorites in the “hard to play” area. The bass player was 13 at the time. King Crimson “21st Century Schizoid Man”:

Here's one in the "too freaking cute" sweepstakes, a 9 year old singing the Violent Femmes "Kiss Off":

This kid drummer is very popular on the Mike Portnoy forums. Here’s “Panic Attack” and “The Dance of Eternity”.

Thanks for the links! Will be checking them out.
