Just curious how many drum corps types are here…current or past marching members, fans, staff, family members, whatever. I’ve come across a few in other threads; now I’m out and out asking
If it’s DCI you’re speaking of, count me as a fan. A big fan. When/where are the finals this year? My kid bro and I used to tape the finals every year, and watch it over and over–every time we were bored and the weather was bad. Unfortunatly. our local PBS quit televising them a few years back.
I never got a chance to march DCI (no $), but I still love watching whenever I get the chance.
I played baritone 2 years at New Mexico State. I haven’t touched a horn in at least 10 years, but the memories are great.

Count me as a fan, but not a member, also. I try to go to the DCI show in Stillwater every year- doesn’t always work out that way, but I try.
I marched in high school and in an alumni parade band (my college didn’t have a marching band/drum & bugle corp).
Sami41, I played euphonium in my university marching band! I’m definitely a big fan of drum corps but I’ve never seen a live show. Usually, I catch the PBS broadcast of the finals. Has anyone here seen “Blast!”? I highly recommend it. The first year, I knew about a dozen cast members from my university so it was really wild seeing the show.
Finals are in Denver this year.
The Kingsmen, 1999-2000, bass.
played snare in HS.
Just another fan here, due to lack of sufficient funds. One of my former percussion instructors is on the board for the (Canton) Bluecoats, and I understand that they have scholarships and fundraising opportunities (bingo, anyone?) for their members, I would guess other corps have the same? AmericanMaid, I saw Blast! about two years ago, absolutely amazing.
Slight tangent…my junior year of high school we had a winter drumline (drums and front ensemble) which was so fun that I can only imagine that drum corps would be so much more so. Winter of my senior year we had an ensemble with brass, color guard and mallet percussion, the first of it’s kind in our area. We performed for exhibition only and still had a lot of fun.
