As a part of their rider, a band I’ll be working with is requesting some equipment. Unfortunately I’m not too well versed in musical equipment. :smack:
Right, especially since the measurements of the drums only refer to the diameter of the shells—there’s also depth to consider; a 12 inch tom is commonly available in sizes ranging from 8 inches deep to 12 inches deep, which has an effect on the sound. This is pretty much true with all drums. A similar idea holds true with cymbals—the thickness wasn’t considered, and all cymbals can sound profoundly different even within designations such as “crash” and “ride”.
I’m guessing that the drummer is bringing their own snare drum and bass drum pedal? This is a common practice. Also, I’m not seeing cymbal stands listed—are those supplied?
Sheesh! I won’t tell you what I played on for years (for my own purposes)…now that was a small kit! (Can’t get a tiny font for the life of me!)
How much would this “small kit” sell for new? used?
And, what is a drum throne?
Last, is there a “shmmery” item called a bellfry? I think it makes a sound like in the intro to “Black Water” by the Doobies, correct? Maybe, I just have bats in my bellfry!
Didn’t mean to hijack the thread…more like a hitch-hike, instead!
Thanks for the (anticipated) replies! - Jinx
For this one—anywhere from $800 to $2,500 new, and 500 to 1,500 used, depending on series and condition, and salesman/store. Perhaps less or more. Often, endorsement deals that the drummer has leads to free drums or equipment at a reduced price, or free use of a kit at each gig (like this situation probably is), etc.
The stool, chair or otherwise seating provision on which the drummer sits. Often they are built with some thought in mind, inclusive of hydraulic shocks, extra bracing, extra padding on the seat, etc.
I think you’re thinking of a Mark tree, though that could have been a wind chime on that tune.
I doubt the guy’s gonna bring his own cymbal stands if he’s not bringing a snare stand. I’s suggest 2 boom stands and a straight stand for the ride, unless money’s no object, then just get 3 booms. I’d keep a decent kick pedal and throne on hand too.
You can get a great sound out of a basic set of Yamaha Stage Customs, which are pretty much entry level. All you need are some Remo pinstripe heads, I’d reccomend a Remo Powerstroke 3 for the kick.
I’m a drummer, and used to sell drums for a major retailer, so if you have anymore questions lemme know.
