Drunken, obnoxious, Arkansas dopers!

Yikes, they still allow smoking in bars there?

It was banned here in 2005 or so. There was a lot of whining, and people made the silly argument that drinking is already a vice, so why not smoke in bars, too? I thought that argument was stupid, being a heavy drinker not fond of cigarette smoke.

If there was ever a way for a bar to lose a liquor license, allowing some vice enterprise to operate is up there. Drugs, gambling, prostitution.

I’m glad you didn’t let slip about…er, you-know-what.

Who said they have a license? This is an joint, in the true sense of the word. Backwoods, moonshine, the works. The reason they didn’t want this guy to smoke in there is because of sawdust on the floor. Plus, they didnt really like him.
ETA no prostitution as far as I know.

Mums the word.

Cool.

Damn yankees.

HEY! I’ll have you know that both my parents are Arkansas natives. Hell, my dad is a damn razorback! Dont let their 40ish year absence blind you to the fact that I’m a legacy Arkansasan! So now you gotta tell me! Tellmetellmetellmetellmetellme! I promise I won’t tell all the other scumbos who enfilthify this board.

Sorry, sworn to silence. Hang around long enough it’ll hit you between the eyes. Whoo pig!
ETA it’s spelled ‘Arkansan’

Imma blame autoincorrect.

You have quite a way with words, sir.

They have their way with me…

…or something. I’unno even know what I meant.

They use you well.

I do feel well used.

You’ll fit right in Arkansas then.

Just a bit North of Fort Smith, outside of Eureka Springs, is where I spend my time fly fishing…

Spider Creek

I have a friend who writes books about Arkansas food, Kat Robinson. She has written about restaurants around the state, where to find Pie in Arkansas and her latest is Arkansas food A to Z. I highly recommend her books. Every where I have tried that she recommends has been tasty.

As far as what to do, outdoors stuff like hiking and canoeing are big, particularly in NE Arkansas. and of course college football is a religion. Little rock has a lot of interesting things from concerts, theatre etc although Fayetteville gets some cool stuff too. or least from what I hear. Lots of bluegrass festivals around the state and I am sure other types of music as well. My folks are into bluegrass and western swing so I heard a lot about those types of festivals. Big fair in fall in Little Rock and lots of little ones around the state, the kind where people enter canned goods, cakes and 4H pigs.

How about Toad Suck?

Smoking is supposed to be banned in bars and restaurants in Hawaii too, but there are a handful that get away with it still. I have noticed they are all Irish pubs. Even dive bars (except for the divier Irish pubs) don’t allow smoking. Not sure why these other places can get away with it.

All the restaurants are no smoking. But the problem with drink at a restaurant bar is they aren’t dirt cheap, close early, and not fun to hang out at all night.

You’re gonna have to get an old chair on the porch and an ice chest. And sit out there and drink. Just don’t start throwing rocks at passing motorist. If you get real bored go down to Walmart get poster board and markers and make some interesting signage for people to enjoy on the way by. You have to make your own fun, sometimes.
