The really funny part is I think he has admitted that he is not a lawyer. Technically a law degree (if he has one) does not entitle one to use Esq., that is reserved to people admitted to a state Bar to practice law. A law school grad is merely a JD or LLM but not Esq.

I am all for being an asshole, but knowing how to be an asshole is like knowing how to drink. The trick is knowing when to stop.

I think the only thing more stupid than junior modding is junior admining. Give it a rest. Every single ATMB thread has your stupid “we are not amused” as a second post. Even mods get sick and tired of having you stuck to their asses (might have to do with their mobility)

I don’t think being earnest and associating yourself a little too closely with the “in” crowd rises to the level of “asshole.”

I’ve found DSYoungEsq’s posts to be informative and insightful. I have a general sense he finds a little more significance in belonging and posting here than most, but OTOH a drive-by poster like me dropping wisdom turds just for the recreation of it is equally annoying.

Longstanding membership and participation in the Club community should earn one the privilege identifying with the “in” group, even if the club is the electronic equivalent of a 4H. Sure it’s patronizing to tell someone to stick around and maybe they will eventually rise to greater significance (I think that’s the general gist of DS’s first comments to me), but asshole? Nah.

I think he’s just one of those guys who, for instance, thinks putting “Esq” after a name is an elevation and not a diminution in status. Sorta like the homeopath who makes sure it’s **Doctor **Homeopath on the dinner reservation. But maybe it is self-mockery, like say, “Chief Pedant”.
