i was referring to acronyms and colloquial terms which have found their way into common usage, such as lol, rotfl, pwned etc.
That, or “in jokes” and jargon. Hi, Opal, or let’s throw things in the quarry, or Pickle Integrity, or whatnot.
A modest and sedate usage of informal “boardspeak” promotes communication. We can allude to the threat of intervention by the “mods” without having to say “the board moderators.”
There’s just a limit. A break-point, a point of diminishing returns. It’s like people who append thirty copies of the “smack” smiley. Why? One does the job just fine!
Well as one who had posted “Too Stupid Didn’t Read” in response to the op without reading much more, it really was an honest point to make to the op. That style results in many just not bothering to read it - too much effort to try to parse out what might be being trying to be said and a likely marker of little of value in the post.
It turns out that this op was able to hear that even though some of us did react that way - not reading further based on his initial post.
I wouldn’t say that such represents how people handle threads that are presented otherwise.
Sometimes you just want to persuade yourself that you’re beating someone to death (even if it’s only yourself).
And the dildo turns into a cactus. Things that keep changing are not typically very useful as tools.
