Apparently, Duke Nukem Forever is not quite as dead as we thought.
I passed the news to my son, Colin.
He is currently breaking the Guinness World Record for consecutive "WTF!"s.
The Devil: Is it getting chilly in here?
It is getting cold! WOOT!
I’m hearing rumours of a December 22, 2012 release date.
“Polished” is industry jargon for “restarted on new engine.”
But seriously though, nuts to Randy Pitchfork and Gearbox.
Whoa whoa whao. First Guns ‘n’ Roses actually releases Chinese Democracy, and now Duke Nukem Forever will actually get released as well…
Time for me to look hard at the calendar and realize: dude. The 1990s are going to be over soon! What am I going to do with all these huge, high-contrast plaid cotton shirts?
I had seen a similar story a few weeks back - I am mixed. While I loved the last game, I’m not convinced I’m willing to take a chance on what seems likely to be a stinker.
I suspect I’ll wait until I hear feedback from lots and lots of players before I buy.
At a bare minium, this game had better balance my checkbook, give me better eyesight and lower my cholesterol.
I installed the ATOMIC EDITION of D3D on our corporate network so me and my boss could Duke it out old school. (Fighting over who gets the 100" screen in the presentation room - suck it down!)
…if this ever materializes, our wives will never see us again.
This guy is probably doing cartwheels at the moment.
Let’s hope we don’t have to wait for another ten years for it.
Flying’s going to become even more hazardous than it already is, what with all the pigs…
This happens the same week that Zero Punctuation’s blistering sarcastic commentary on DNF wins the viewer’s choice? Hmmm.
Oh, for Christ’s sake.
No, it’s not coming out.
It’s not the real thing.
It might have the same name, but I seriously doubt that it’s the same game that 3D-Realms has been “working on” for all these years any more than Bethesda’s Fallout 3 was the game that people had been waiting years for.
Y’know, if I were a game company that was working on Duke Nukem Forever, I wouldn’t make any announcement about it. Just keep mum, and then all of a sudden, announce “It’s completed and being shipped to stores, and it goes on sale next Tuesday”.
Both George Broussard (3D Realms head) and Randy Pitchford (Borderlands head) have confirmed that it uses most of the content 3D Realms created before they went belly up and that Gearbox has hired on a bunch of former 3DRers to help with the development.
It is the game and it is coming. Hell yeah!

No, it’s not.

Even if it is, why on earth would anyone care? The franchise is effectively dead anyway. There’s no reason to believe the game would actually be GOOD, or any better than any one of the 6,000 other shooters you can buy. Slapping the Duke Nuken name on it doesn’t mean the game will be good; just as the Star Wars name has been slapped on many shitty products.

The screenshots you can see through the link provided so far look like a game made five or six years ago. At least.
No one really expects DNF to be any good. Everyone just plays along with the joke because Duke was one of the first video game characters with personality and Forever has obtained mythical status.
It’s the gaming version of Santa Claus.
