I’m not sure if this was just a UK thing, but around the late 1980s, fluorescent towelling socks were big. And you had to wear a fluorescent pink sock on the left foot, and a fluorecent green one on the right foot. Or was that the other way round? Either way, only real dorks got them the wrong way round, but I suspect the “rules” changed arbitrarily from day to day.

It wasn’t bad enough to have just paisley or just Nehru style – no, we had to put 'em together! My Nehro was dark tan, like Artie Johnson’s on “Laugh In.” And I had a half-dozen paisley shirts with white cuffs and collars. And “brushed” denim jeans, and that stupid hairstyle where we combed our hair straight to the front, then swept the “bangs” to the side. Bleeding Madras shirts anyone? Oh, and then, for about six minutes in the early 1970s, very wide, very colorful neckties that one tied almost in a half-Windsor, only the tie didn’t go down through the front loop – it looked more like a cravat or an ascot than a necktie. Anybody remember that?
I haven’t read the whole thread, but I assume polyester leisure suits already have been mentioned. Had three of 'em, complete with plastic shirts, wide white belt and white buck shoes.
Damn, girl, I’m back in high school again! And you are hot! So, how youuuuu doiin’?
I had a fanny pack that I didn’t stop wearing until it was accidentally ripped off of me during PE.
