Yes, it’s in the list of terminology.
Huh, thanks, don’t know how I missed that. It looks like Harpies were added by user AarnoK as part of a massive edition they made in December 2021. Wish there was a citation. Like I said, it’s not in the Frank Herbert works, except maybe as part of some Bene Gesserit or Fish Speaker legend that’s mentioned in passing or something. That does look to be the only place “Harpies” appears in the wiki as well.
If it is from the Brian Herbert abominations, I lose some respect for Villeneuve for using anything from those “sources”.

I merge the two sequels together.

The Sci-fi channel version did use the Paul actor. No real mystery.
If they could hide the fact that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were in the latest Spider-Man film, thy can hide anything.
I’m not even sure thay are going past Book 1 with this movie series.
Villeneuve has indicated he’d like to at least go on to Messiah – which makes sense if you really want to bring up the first series’ greater point.
But yeah, it would be a heavy lift by the time they get to it.
Or don’t show the Preacher’s face, and disguise his voice, until you’re ready to reveal who he is. A monk’s cowl and a face mask do wonders. See Bogart in Dark Passage for a different example (camera angles, no voice changing)
IIRC, Villeneuve is set to direct Rendesvous With Rama next, so Dune Messiah probably won’t be happening until 2030-ish.
Huh. So is he specializing in sci-fi classics by the masters which were destroyed decades later by awful sequels by other writers?
I may have mentioned this earlier in the thread but if anyone has interest in the setting of Dune but didn’t want to read the books, the recent Dune RPG by Modiphius is a treasure trove of Lore and History of the Dune Universe.
Just in time to tie-in to two major upcoming releases: the Barbie Dream Sandworm:
WANT! (Discourse will not let me reply with just WANT!)
So the way to bypass discourse’s annoying nanny tendencies is to add empty old-style vBulletin bold tags after your short post, which is what I did in the previous post. Like this:
WANT!
Unfortunately you can’t get those bold tags by hitting the bold button on the reply window toolbar because that just adds asterisks. Just asterisks won’t work. Using this technique you can post a single letter if you wanted.
EDIT: And to get discourse to ignore those tags so that it displays the codes, you need to escape them with a backslash (\) right before each open bracket, which is what I did just above.
She who shall be Princess Irulan:
Part 2 trailer 2:
Brian
I’m hopeful and I say this as someone who only liked the first part OK.
No Alia, I see? Uh, she has to be included I would hope.
I’m pretty confident Alia will be in part 2. But she’s a difficult character to show in the trailer without context. Assuming they are purposely keeping her as a surprise, I think it’s the right choice.
She has to be. She’s rather important to the plot. They also said that Lady Jessica was pregnant in Part 1.
Is that Christopher Walken as the emperor?
