A friend of mine just bought a Sony drive for his computer that is DVD-DL (double-layer) design. He also bought DVD-DL specific discs for it. With both the Nero software that came with the drive, and the latest Roxio that is designed to work with DL, he can’t get a disc to properly burn.
He is trying to take an .AVI file and burn it on the disc in regular DVD-Video format so it can be played on home DVD players. Both softwares go through the motions of setting up to do the action but either won’t let the “BURN” button work or the disc comes out without any burning having been done on it. As best I can tell, he is going about the procedures correctly and the computer is up to the task.
If he tries to burn data files to the disc, it works. Is it possible that the DVD-DL media only allows data recording for archiving and will not accept DVD-Video?
