ater installing recent Microsoft upgrades i am having troube with my DVd drive. When i insert a disc the computer restarts itself and i get a message saying the system hs recovered from a serious error. This happens a number of times and then things work again. Should i format my drive or try restoing to an earlier point,:smack:
Does this happen with every disk you try to insert?
I can’t solve your problem, but I can give this advice: ALWAYS set a restore point before downloading any Microsoft upgrade, so if bollixes up something, you can go back and restore your computer as it was.
Why not try to see if there is an automatic restore point set the day before you downloaded the upgrades (Start, Help, Restore Points). If so, restore to that day, and see if the DVD drive then works OK.
It doesn’t happen with ever disc but it ussuall takes about 6 goes then it works for 2-3 times and goes again.
i have in the past restored the computer to various points but it still happens. I have noticed also that i have to pree the button aboy 3 times to get the drive to open
