Dwarves in serious roles

Including the aforementioned Meredith Eaton. Who is hot, BTW.

I seem to remember that the Frankenstein movie The Bride had a dwarf in a serious role. Arguably, by OP rules he was a sidekick to the Monster, but I saw him as more of a mentor figure. Aah, a little checking shows it was David Rappaport. Who commited suicide, just like Eaton’s late husband. Is that common for little people? I wouldn’t be too surprised.

Yeah, but can you act? There aren’t a lot of actors under 5’ out there. There are even fewer, of course, who are good at it. Dinklage is a hell of an actor. Plus, while he’s had some outstanding roles, he’s also had to play the antagonist in a live action Underdog movie. It’s got to be pretty rare that he gets a script that measures up to his talents, so a well written sci-fi saga that casts him as the swashbuckling hero is probably something he’d jump on with both feet. And he’s as perfect an actor for the role as you’re likely to find. The important thing about Miles is that he’s shorter than everyone else, and has some mild but visible physical deformities. It doesn’t particularly matter if he’s 4’11" vs. 4’5", or has a crooked spine vs. dwarfism. Either suite of physical characteristics fulfills the narrative needs of the Miles Vorkosigan character, even if it’s not precisely what Bujold wrote.

Er… does porn count as “serious?”

In the movie Total Recall there was the small role of a whore in the bar that Ah-nuld was heading for. She was blonde, dressed in black leather. In a fight scene later in the show she’s standing on the bar(or a table maybe) wielding an assault rifle. That’s serious!

If they ever made a movie about Spider Robinson’s Lady Sally’s Place, she would be perfect for the role of Mistress Cynthia, as the woman is supposed to be a little person.

I have never seen a casting idea I like more. It’s perfect. PERFECT!

Been a long time since I’ve seen that movie but I’m guessing you’re referring to “Thumbelina”, played by Debbie Lee Carrington.

That’s her!
