Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, to star in Big Trouble in Little China remake

You’re all so concerned about Jack Burton, but I’m interested in the special effects. As a kid, I held my breath during this scene. I can only imagine what they’ll do with it today.

As long as the remake isn’t awful, I’ll catch it in the theater.

Who are these people? Friends of yours, huh? Now this really pisses me off to no end!

Next up, he’ll be Wesley in the remake of The Princess Bride.

You mean oil?

And yet we all keep trying, like fools.

I mean Black Blood Of The Earth!

Ninja’d

Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?

Wrong country.

I heard this news and immediately felt the urge to kill.

Now, I better run, run into the mystic night

I actually thought that part of the glory of this movie was that American audiences had never seen anything as wild as a sword fight that takes place in midair, whereas if I understand it such a thing was common in Chinese action films even then. Hell, in the 80’s they could still exploit the fact that anything Asian was disorienting (as it were) to a western audience. But aren’t we all a lot more cosmopolitan now?

I thought Egg Shen was the protagonist. :frowning:

Are you crazy… Is that your problem?

Don’t make get my six-demon bag!

I got a very positive attitude about this.

All I know is that Victor Wong was a good Egg.

What the hell does that mean? Huh? China is here, I don’t even know what the hell that means. All I know is, this Lo Pan character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires cutting everybody to shreds, and he just stands there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him.

A lot of Chinese hear these stories when we’re kids, then we grow up and pretend we don’t believe them.

I’m mostly okay with remakes. Whether they turn out well or not doesn’t really affect my love for the original. I think Dwayne can pull it off. His size can be explained by his truck driving job if loading, unloading product is part of his job. And he can do comedy, as we’ve seen in prior films, in particular, The Rundown.

I wonder who they will choose for the two female leads. The original actresses were terrific.

Though I hear that it can take centuries to find a good Chinese girl with green eyes, so I don’t envy the producers that task.
