Does anyone have any information or views about software packages to write and produce e-books? Best, worst, must-have, don’t-touch-with-bargepole, merits/demerits? Any and all input gratefully received.
I’ve been using ReaderWorks to produce eBooks for Pocket PCs. The basic download is free; the full version is $119. I have the basic version. For my purposes–mostly changing long Word documents into eBooks–it’s a very good program. The basic version allows you to add such features as a table of contents, author information, book categories, etc. The full version allows you to place a picture on the title page of your eBook and also provides a bit of support for marketing your eBbooks.
Another vote for ReaderWorks, the basic (free) version. I converted a short story of mine to that format and it worked like a charm. Great way to get your feet wet.
