I was just wondering if it was possible to hack the E-Pass, and other systems like it. If you’re not familliar, it’s the thing that you pass through that pays tolls automatically, so you don’t have to slow down. Anyways, how hard would it be to set up a scanner on the side of the road (hidden, of course) that deducts, say, 25 cents from every car that passes, and gives it to your bank account? I would think that somebody who helped design the scanning system could make one of these fairly easily.
Also: What anti-hacker devices do these scanners have?
A scanner would reveal the identification number of the tag, but not the billing information. That data is stored in a 3rd party database.
Are you saying it can’t realistically be done?
It cannot realistically be done.
All you could possibly get is the serial number of the toll pass (which, of course, you might use to forge a valid pass and therefore get free tolls); you cannot use that information to drain someone’s bank account or credit card.
Are you saying that you realistically want us to tell you how to break the law?
what about cloning the tag
PetW, we do not permit threads about how to break the law. Do not make the same mistake again. This thread is closed.
