e-purchasing

I have a friend who needs to purchase something online as soon as possible, but doesn’t have a credit card. How fast can he obtain a working credit card (or at least the numbers that will be on the card)? We’re hoping in less than a day. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Most banks issue debit cards which can be used like credit cards in most instances. A day is asking a bit much though, even with those. Does the place accept direct debit payments through something like PayPal?

How about ordering the item yourself, using your credit card, and have your friend reimburse you in cash?

Or, your friend can ask to pay by check/money order (assuming the vendor will accept this, but most of them do), send the payment by Express Mail, and ask for the item to be shipped by the fastest method possible. That’s a rather expensive & roundabout solution, though…are you sure this isn’t something you can’t pick up at your local mall somewhere?

This explains that lots of places can give you pre-paid, disposable credit cards. If you have a AAA office nearby, they do (or used to) sell pre-paid, disposable credit cards.

Some online credit card applications will approve (or decline) you right away. Of those a couple of them (Amex possibly) will give you a number you can use until you get the physical card.
