So I was stolling down Adams, when I happened to glimpse them out of the corner of my eye in a card shop window. Row upon row of grinning jack-o-lanterns. Ghosts and goblins. Witches and funky black cats a-go-go.

I am a little disgusted by this, too. One of my good friends is a manager at Spencer Gifts in the mall, and thier Halloween junk has been up for a week or more. I also noticed (or rather, my four-year-old did) that the huge aisle in the middle of Wal-Mart is packed full plastic loot buckets and fake spiderwebs.
I for one am thrilled. I have a huge display each year in my front yard and it takes a lot of planning. I like to start ahead of time and it’s great to see what new props are available each year.
We started getting Christmas crap in at my bookstore in JUNE, my friends.
Yeah, I was gonna say the local fabric store chain started putting up the Halloween crap the last week of July. I understand that for people making their costumes, etc they need the time to do that, but I’m talking about all the extra decorating crap, like big plywood Frankensteins and whatnot.
