See poll.
Me no understand.
mmm
What do you mean by trashy?
If it wasn’t for early Christmas presents I wouldn’t have gotten to see Rammstein last night at Madison Square Garden in NY … so right now I have to say that I love early Christmas Presents!!!
What’s trashy about it? Maybe your schedule and that of the other person are such that before Christmas was the only time you could meet to exchange gifts. Maybe the present was a concert or play or other event (like aruvqan mentions) that was on a fixed date before Christmas. Maybe you both just happened to be in the store together when the other person saw something that would be perfect for you. I can think of plenty of good reasons why a Christmas present might be early, and no bad reasons.
Say what, now?
Que?
Trashy how?
Need more information. Do you mean a family opening up gifts on Christmas Eve, or opening up a co-worker’s gift at work rather than on Christmas, or what?
Presents = good
Timing = irrelevant
I understand a personal preference for waiting until Christmas to exchange Christmas gifts, but I can’t imagine what could possibly be “trashy” about early gifts.
You forgot the WTF??? poll option.
mmm
This poll is so inane, I want to kick my own ass for participating in it.
If you get a crappy early Christmas present, you have time to re-gift it to somebody else rather than just throwing it out.
Does that mean late Christmas presents are extra classy? I sense a new “reason”
Cool. I’m giving you your birthday present in July. Please tell me your birthday is nowhere near July.
Brilliant!
By that same logic, late Christmas presents are awesome. So if I get a present on say, the 20th of December, I’m just going to consider it a really, really late Christmas present from the previous year.
Win-win!
They’re sometimes necessary for practical reasons.
The early(ish) Christmas present I got at the office party last night is arguably trashy–or at least, something other than great.
But, that’s because it was a Dirty Santa exchange, and presents ranged from a cheap new toaster to $25 gift card to a restaurant plus some other goodies.
(I didn’t get the toaster or a gift card. Nor did I give either of them.)
My birthday is in March. I would be happy to receive a birthday gift from you in July as a means of illustrating your post here. Truly, my dedication to this message board knows no bounds.
I hate almonds and coconut in my chocolate truffles, btw. Just throwing that out there.
