I have posted at my desk the strip where Bucky discovers that the “Palm Pilot” he has been entering his schedule into is really an old “GameBuddy.” Rob utteers what has become my life’s motto: When in doubt, nap.

One of my favorite Get Fuzzy sequences involves Bucky’s new idea for a toy-Square. A red cardboard square. I forget the gist of it, but Bucky thinks it’s the greatest idea in the world, when it’s actually just a copy of The White Album with red paint on it.
No no, Bucky has but one fang.
I love this strip. I can’t believe my local paper carries it. It’s the only strip that I actually cut out and keep on a regular basis. Current favorites are the one where Satchel looks at a soda bottle top that says “you are not a winner” and looks upset (my heart just broke, and how sad is that when your heart breaks for a cartoon dog?) and the one where Rob brings Satchel a paper crown from a fast food place and Satchel says “I feel like a princess!” All-time favorite is the third one on [urr=http://www.cafepress.com/unitedmedia/subcategory.aspx?category=getfuzzyfav&cname=getfuzzy&type=strip]this page with Satchel’s absolute joy at saying funny names. I’m a Satchel fan, what can I say.
Oh, and Darby Conley is really cute. I emailed him once asking if Satchel was gay but he never responded. Like three weeks later Satchel started pining after some bitch in his play group. Coincidence? I think not!
Um, if a mod wanted to fix the “urr” in the above post to “url” I wouldn’t object in the slightest.
I am married to Satchel. No, he’s not a dog, but otherwise hubby is pretty much in synch with Satchel. Due to Satchel’s “Handsome, Mighty” speech, we still call hubby Handsome, Mighty Vernon. Satchel wears a watch because it makes him feel pretty. Not only does he have a watch, it is named handy and he probably counts it as a friend. Sadly this reminds me of the man I married.
Satchel’s best moments are when he deals with current events. He’s used to being confused. He tries to get a grasp on the issue struggling to understand it, often pointing out basic things that most people seem to ignore. Rob sometimes explains things, sometimes confirms his observations, and sometimes just mercifully turns the newspaper to the comic page.
I love Satchel. Recently, he was overwhelmed with joy to discover that his “lite-brite” toy was more than just a beautiful, happy clownface picture on the cover of the box, but contained ‘magic’ stuff on the inside, too! Oh, to have his sense of wonder.
Another Get Fuzzy lover here. My friend who works at United Media got me hooked on the strip. And when Darby Conley came in to the office, my friend ran down to the bookstore, bought a copy of Conley’s book, and had it autographed for me. Good friend, eh?
