"Get Fuzzy" and "You Damn Kid"

I love Get Fuzzy. It’s the only daily strip in the newspaper that actually makes me laugh out loud. There’s nothing else out there that I’ve found that is even nearly as good as this strip.
Though You Damn Kid is pretty good too. Alternate papers only for this one, I believe.

That is all. Carry on.

I’m also a big fan of Get Fuzzy. The only strip I probably like more is Pastis’s “Pearls Before Swine”. Those are the two comics I read daily.

I agree with Get Fuzzy. It gives me my “smart ass animal and hapless human” fix I’ve needed since Bloom County went out.

I didn’t used to like GET FUZZY because I thought the cat was drawn ugly. But I put that idea aside. . . because the Bucky character is sooooo Siamese!!! And Satchel is just the most adorable dog. It’s a great strip!

I don’t know the other one, though. We don’t have it in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Am I missing something?

Seen the YDK about Detox Man and Sponsor Boy?
God grant us the serenity!!

Wait…You Damn Kid’s appearing in newspapers?

Since when?

Huge Get Fuzzy fan here. I’m signed up to get the comic emailed every day and I love it to death.

Our newspaper gets neither of these. :frowning: Our best strip (just about the only good one we have anymore) is Dilbert…

Okay, I like Get Fuzzy. But I just read about the last dozen You Damn Kid strips and I guess I’m missing the attraction. It reminds me of Family Circus (and that’s not a compliment) - both strips seem to think that just by relating something they’re making some kind of point, the main difference being Family Circus is trying for “warm and fuzzy” and You Damn Kid is trying for “edgy and controversial”.

Get Fuzzy is the one strip I read without fail every day and is so true to life.

Rob:“There’s a cat code?”
Bucky:“There’s like 250 codes”
Rob:“How many of those don’t involve sleep?”
Bucky:“Ummm…4”

And right in front of me, my cat is curled into a flurry ball.

I adore Bucky. He’s my buddy Jodi if she were a cat. Evil, yet delightfully sadistic. I especially loved last week’s storyline with his trip to the vet. “My god will strike you down, Robert.” (I have to confess, though, that after I quit laughing at that one, my next thought was, “My god, that cat’s gonna barf for hours coming out of the anesthesia.” Yes, I spend far too much time at work.) Razor Bucky. Heh.

I like Get Fuzzy, but quite frankly, the personality plays tend to get repetetive after a while.

Monty is my favorite strip at present. Wacky cast of characters, geeky subject matter, sometimes misses the mark, but always tries to be different. It reminds me of Dilbert when it wasn’t all about work…it was about a guy who had pun wars with his dog and could find dinosaurs hiding behind his couch at any time. Which is not to say I don’t find the work-Dilbert funny, but it wasn’t what first attracted me to the strip.

My girlfriend bought me last year’s calender and two of the books, though I usually do my reading of the strip online. (I also refer to all (6) of the pets in our household collectively as “the fuzzy butts”.)

I like Get Fuzzy, but my current favorites are [url\http://www.somethingpositive.net/]Something Positive and Sinfest.

Get Fuzzy is the best new strip since Dilbert. Consistently great. I also love the structure – not one gag, but one in every panel.

Kids discovering their aunt’s vibrator, getting smacked by the nuns at school, or passing the time away playing with ashtrays when stuck at AA meetings is too Family Circus for you?

My mind reels.

I loved the Get Fuzzy where Bucky is making “art” by going around the house and smashing things with a hammer. At the end he tells Rob, “Well, you’re obviously less familiar with postmodern deconstructionalism than a cat would be…”

Then there was the cowboy hat and belt, to signify Bucky’s “signature ruggedness”.

And yes, we have cats. 4 of them, including an obese Siamese patterned cat who closely resembles Bucky. Ours, however, has a very gentle disposition, and all his teeth.

I love Get Fuzzy. I’ve only been reading it for about 6 months, back when Mauvaise turned me on to it (I’m a Yankees fan, and this was the strip where Rob - Red Sox fan - was pretty dejected last October.)

Never heard of You Damn Kid, but I’ll start checking it out.

Bucky is quite simply the best comic strip cat since Bill The Cat. Hands down.

I, too, love Get Fuzzy!, but You Damn Kid seems like a cross between Ernie Pook’s Comeek (by Lynda Barry) and Kaz’s Underworld, with the difference that those two are usually funny. I also love Ben Katchor’s Hotel and Farm and Julius Knipl, Real Estate Photographer. All those are found in the City Paper, DC’s weekly alt (which also caries The Straight Dope!)

I just don’t get Pearls Before Swine. Or rather, I get it, I just don’t see why people like it.
