Earth, as seen from Mars

The first photo of earth, as a planetary disc, were posted yesterday here:

This was something I found to be very deeply moving. To see the earth, not as a point of light or as a shining sphere, but as a murky bluish pebble, gave me a lonely, melancholy feeling. Especially when shown in the same jpg as Jupiter. No songs or sermons, I think, can do this image justice.

I likened it to the mental image I believe Carl Sagan was trying to paint in Pale Blue Dot

That’s just awesome. I think we can see the moon too… or maybe I just need to clean my monitor
