Christmas has plenty of popular specials, but there aren’t many for Easter.
I can think of:
The Easter Bunny is Comin’ to Town.
Here Comes Peter Cottontail
It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown
Am I missing any?

I meant to post this in Cafe Sociey. Can a mod please hop this over to the Cafe?
It seems to me that the religious ones get more play around Easter than Christmas. What’s the name of that passion movie they used to always show?
**The Ten Commandments is often shown around Easter. Kinda odd, since it doesn’t have anything to do with Easter. King of Kings and *The Greatest Story Ever Told * are sometimes shown as well. I doubt *The Passion of the Christ *will ever be shown on network or cable tv.
That’s because it’s about Passover which is often around the same time as Easter.
NBC used to broadcast the “Jesus of Nazareth” mini-series around Easter. I haven’t seen anyone air it recently though.
It’s going to be on Showtime a few times next week, starting at 7:00 AM EDT on Monday.
I don’t see why not. Hell, they aired an unedited version of Saving Private Ryan on network tv a while back. I haven’t personally seen Passion but it can’t possibly be more gory than that.
Family Channel used to air JoN, and also History Channel. HC also at least once showed the “sequel” mini-series A.D., a mixture of The Book of Acts, the Caesars from Tiberias to Nero, and a gladiator soap opera.
A recently new one that pops up is “The Miracle Maker: The Story of Jesus”, a multi-animated version which works a LOT better than many other Jesus movies.
Many Christians prefer there not be a lot of secular Easter specials. Can you imagine Tim Burton’s “A Nightmare Before Easter”?
Don’t forget Davey and Goliath’s Easter special (where grandma dies). I think it was called “Happy Easter!”
I think The Greatest Story Ever Told is the one I was remembering. And in case anyone misinterpreted the term “passion movie”, the events surrounding Easter are referred to as “the passion”, so any movie about those events (not just the Mel Gibson one) is a passion movie.
Jim Henson’s 1986 “Bunny Picnic.” Bean Bunny’s brother tells him he is too small to help prepare for the Bunny Picnic, so he wanders off on his own and encounters the farmer’s dog. None of the other bunnies believe him when he tries to tell them he’s seen the dog–until the dog ruins the picnic. It’s then up to Bean to come up with a plan to defeat the farmer’s dog by discovering the one thing the dog fears.
You can usually find some channel airing the Fred Astaire-Judy Garland movie Easter Parade.
I see to recall this version of Wilde’s “The Selfish Giant” airing around Easter back in the day.
Jesus Christ Superstar
There’s a running update of Easter TV programs at My Merry Christmas (those folks really love holidays).
If you’ve never seen the 1927 The King of Kings, make sure to do so! I finally caught it about five years ago and it’s fantastic.
