Easy way to fix hole in pocket?

I cannot sew. Now I have a hole in the pocket of a perfectly good pair of pants. I have tried, in the past, to fix holes by sewing them, but I do not have the knack. Are there any easy alternatives?

if you need something very temporary, a few staples will do

Just take it to a tailor, they should do it for a small price.

Maybe some sort of iron-on patching fabric?

Duct tape.

I wouldn’t recommend staples, punching more holes in a pain of jeans that are wearing out really isn’t that it seems to be.

That should read, “isn’t really the great idea it seems to be.”

Safety pins.

Or use the other pockets.

Carry a purse.

Wear a fanny pack.

If the hole is in the bottom of the front pant pocket, try tying a string or dental floss tightly around it above the hole.

Trying to find someone to sew the hole up would be the best, though.

Many cleaners will also be able to make such a repair, as well as replace buttons, etc.

If you can’t find a tailor, most dry cleaners will do small sewing jobs like this.

“Man with hole in pocket feels cocky all day”

I just had to delve into some mending myself and my mom had me use Stitch Witchery to hem my pants.

Is the hole situated in such a way that you could roll up the pocket around the hole and “glue” it down with Stitch Witchery? All you need is a roll of the stuff, an iron and a damp cloth.

If the hole is in the fabric, ie from wear from keys or whatever, iron-on patch works. Not, however, if the fabric is polyester or the like, since the heat for making a good bond melts the polyester.

If the stitches at the seam have broken, or the seam torn at the stitches, sew inside and parallel to the seam. Detail: sew with regular thread (not button-&-carpet), one thread, up-down-up-down, the stitches longer than the original seam stitches. Then come back over it and sew it again, similarly but not identically.

Avoid sewing in lumps, puckers, or strain points.

The cleaner will likely put in a new pocket, which will probably last longer than your work.

You can’t sew? Or you can’t sew pretty?

Is the hole in the side or the seam? Sewing an ugly hole in a seam is easier than tying your shoelaces.

FilmGeek - its a hole in a pocket, why would I care if it were pretty or not? I have tried sewing other pockets, but it never holds
ZipperJJ - I’m gonna try Stich Witchery, that may do the trick!
