Eating in a flight

And not only that, the air, IIRC, moves through the plane from side to side or top to bottom, not from one end to the other. The idea being that if someone is sick* they’re less likely to pass that on to someone not in their immediate vicinity.

*Wherever I picked that up from, it wasn’t about being sick as much as it was about clearing out cigarette smoke faster, but I imagine it works for both.

United calls them “preferred seating”, which is separate from Economy Plus that has the extra legroom.

I haven’t flown in three years, so it’s news to me as well.
