This has been going on a few days, and I can’t find anything on eBay help or if I google it. Also, I have deleted my eBay cookies, but that didn’t make any difference.
If I have an item that has been shipped (and that has a tracking number), I have received an email with a button that says Track Order. When I click on that, it goes to the eBay page for that item that says Order Details. Among other things on that page, there is a button that says Show Shipping Details. That will show the current status of the package, plus another button that allows me to see all the places the package has checked in along the way.
Now the Show Shipping Details button does not work. It gives me the “waiting circle” icon and then just blank space. This is now happening for all items pending delivery.
I can still get this information directly from the carrier by using the tracking number. But this is more convenient. I am wondering if something has changed at eBay or (more likely) have I done something inadvertently on my PC. I have no idea how to check that. Any help?
Are you using an adblocker like Ublock Origin…? If so temporarily shut it off when looking at these shipping details. [eBay might be running some kind of script or something which the adblocker is blocking.]
I was going to suggest using a different browser, and if possible even a different computer. That should at least help pin down if it is you or them.
Both excellent suggestions. I white-listed eBay on my ad blocker (Adblocker Plus), refreshed, and it still did this.
I tried it on my Samsung tablet with Samsung’s browser, and it still did this. I also tried it on my Samsung phone, also with Samsung’s browser, and it still did this.
One other piece of information: I had a package that was delayed in customs until well past its original delivery date, and this behavior seemed to start with that package. So I wonder if that event didn’t trigger some setting in my eBay account, a setting that got applied not only to that package but to later packages as well. I have gone through my account preferences, and I don’t find anything about this. So I guess I’ll just have to wait and see, maybe it will magically resolve itself.
Turns out this is a problem on eBay, for which they have opened a ticket. I was directed to their Community posting board, where others have also complained of this issue since Monday.
It was also pointed out to me that it is safer, rather than clicking links from an email (even though I think I’m pretty good at sniffing out scams and phishing attempts) to access the same information from my Purchase History list. So that’s what I’m doing from now on.
