Tittle says it all.
I currently have a Vmax. I’m not happy with it because the button only works half the time. (very annoying)
Thanks for any input.

I’ve been through a lot of ecigs over the years. The two I use these days are the eVic supreme and the iTaste MVP V2. Haven’t had any problems with either of them.
The eVic supreme is a new model. My original eVic worked daily for over a year (over 100,000 puffs) with only one battery change. It still works – I just wanted the new supreme model for the fancy stainless steel.
Mrs Uniqueorn loves Nicolite and only Nicolite. (Not sure if it is a UK brand only.)
I’m not a fan of the iTaste MVP V2. They’re boxy and heavy. I’m far from an expert, though. I’m still on my starter e-cig (eGo-C Twist with a Kanger tank). I’d like to upgrade, though, and will be watching the thread for suggestions.
I’d suggest Marley23, or if he’s not available, maybe engineer_comp_geek. ![]()
I started with a Volcano Magma ecig, then went to the Volcano Lavatube mod and then I got a ProVape ProVari. I liked it so much, I bought a second one. They’re expensive, but I’m very happy with the performance, which has kept me off real cigarettes for almost a year now. I’ve experimented with tanks and atomizers, too and I’m happy with my current setups, which are both ProVari mod with Kanger ProTank 2 and 2.5Ω atomizer.
The ProVari is heavy, which some people dislike but I actually prefer. It’s very solid construction. The button is small (about 3/16" diameter) and protrudes out by about 1/8" from the body. There is only the one button, so adjusting settings is a bit clunky but not bad once you’re used to it. By default, the unit uses a 18490/18500 Li-Ion battery. If you get one, I recommend buying the extension cap that fits a 18650 battery.
Shakes If it suits your budget and you are happy with the form factor of the Vmax, just disappointed with the performance, then Jake Jones nailed it with the ProVari recommendation. It is the very high quality Made in the USA device of which the Vmax is a cheap Chinese imitation. You really can’t go wrong with a ProVari.
Since you already have a battery charger, you won’t have that additional expense. One of the reasons for my other two recommendations is the fact that no separate charger is needed for them; they charge with a USB cable.
For others considering ecigs, the MVP is a relatively inexpensive but durable and versatile device. I would consider it the best choice for someone who wants to move up from a cig-a-like or eGo type ecig. You will have a reliable, easy to use device with a long lasting battery and plenty of voltage and wattage adjustment to do some experimenting. Yes, it’s heavy. Big batteries are heavy … but this one will last you all day, maybe two … not like those little things that need a charge in an hour or two. Even if you don’t think you’ll like the box form factor, this is something to have on your desk or coffee table of wherever you spend a lot of time vaping. Keep something smaller around for your pocket if you think you must, but I think the MVP is a must buy for anyone exploring ecigs.
The eVic supreme is also heavy, partly battery and partly because it made of stainless steel. It has a lot of fine-tuning you can do if you like to mess around with things, but you don’t ever actually have to use the onboard computer if you don’t want to. It’s still a fine device, and nice looking, too. It is my main device, but I have several.
Another vote for the iTaste MVP, if you don’t mind the boxy shape. I have two of them and have become fond of the heavy, solid feel.
My go-to for work/daytime use is these KGO batteries and VV clearomizers. I usually have at least two of them with me for different flavors, and thus only have to charge every other day or so. Plus I like something discreet and lightweight for use at work.
I’m going to get one of these next, based on my satisfaction with the iTaste box mods.
Forgot to mention - I did have a Vmax for a while and also found the buttons and settings to be somewhat glitchy. Plus the shape reminded me of a dildo and I felt funny using it in public!
I went ahead and bought a Provari ($200 yikes!!)
The dude at the vape shop told me this would be the last mod I’ll ever have to buy.
There have been a couple of times I’ve had to take out the battery in order to reboot the computer. I’m not sure if this is typical or should I trade it in for another Provari. Other than that, I’m quite happy with the product.
Good for you taking the plunge! The Provari seems to get near-universal rave reviews.
Could someone explain to me the purpose for these newer enormous ecigs? Not only are they expensive but they are well enormous! And often look like dildos heh, weird looking and not very portable.
I have to say I’ve been satisfied with cheapo EVOD clones from China, they are under $10 bucks for the full kit and I’m satisfied after one or two hits with high nicotine juice.
Is the point just producing clouds of vapor? What advantage is offered by the shocking change in price? From 10-200 dollars!
Well, at some point you hit a point of diminishing returns…but the question is like asking why a new Lexus when a 15-year-old Toyota Corolla also gets you from A to B.
But advantages of a better-made mod:
Much longer-lasting - the KGO batteries I buy for $15-20 each last 3-6 months. Your eVod knock-offs probably not that long. Provari will probably last for years. So probably similar in cost, overall.
More consistent flavor and throat hit.
Ability to play with voltage and adjust taste.
I’m not a fan of the “dildo” shaped mods but I really do like the box mods for how they feel in my hand.
Also you can go for days and days between charges.
First thing I thought, as well.
Pretty sure Miller smokes… Drinks like a fish!

My wife just started using the Itaste MVP 2 and really likes it. It also doubles as an emergency backup battery for your electronic device if necessary.
No. No, man. Shit no, man.
I have never had so much as one glitch with either ProVari I own. A couple of times in the first day? Fuck that. You just dropped two bills on what’s supposed to be a flawless piece of equipment. What happened? It wouldn’t activate when you pushed the button or what? Seriously, you shouldn’t ever have to remove the battery to reboot shit. You take out the battery when the unit starts flashing, which means the battery is low. Take it back for exchange, post haste.
I like my KGO Mega VV. It’s a variable voltage battery, does everything I need it to, and the two I have now have lasted about a year. They cost me maybe $25 apiece. I don’t have the funds to drop 2 c-notes on a battery!
Took me a while to reply but nope, my first battery lasted around 6 months with no sign of diminishing performance until it got busted in an accident, my second has been going 3 months so far with no sign of diminishing performance.
I have noticed longer lasting coils with the second one, so it is possible my first one was burning them out. But I got some Kanthal wire and now make my own coils with pieces of cotton balls as wick and I get more vapor then pre-made so I am happy ![]()
I highly recommend anyone learn to do your own coils, it is cheap and easy once you have it down and cotton makes a far better wick than the stuff in the pre-mades. If anyone wants help PM me, if you can put together a PC you can rebuild an atomizer.
And I’m consuming the equivalent of several packs of cigs worth of nicotine a day, I could never go back to smoking thank allah for e-cigs!
