Ed Asner is a truther!?

So just because the Bin Ladin family and the Bush family were business partners, the Project for the American Century called for a Pearl Harbor type event to stir up support for American military in the Middle East (Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz were members), Richard Clarke, the administrations own anti-terrorism expert says they ignored him and all his warnings about stepped up terrorism and reduced anti-terrorism efforts, the admin ignore the August 01 memo about bin Ladin “determined to strike in the US”, bin Ladin striking in the US and the same Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz steamrolled the idiot Bush into invading Iraq, you guys think that it is not possible, or hey, likely, that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz (oh, and that asshole Pearl) were not delighted with the attacks? Or that Cheney didn’t make millions, if not billions off of his Halliburton stock?

Dick Cheney is Al Queda. Dick and Osama are laughing their asses off at all the suckers dying. And Dick is making money off of it. When Amb. Wilson tried to blow the whistle on the forgery about yellow cake, it was Dick and Friends who outed his wife, Valerie Plame.

It’s not Ed Asner who is a deluded nut. You guys are deluded. Dick Cheney and Friends are evil fuckers who goaded it all into happening so they could make money.

He ain’t no Mr. Grant. I saw Asner on Chelsea Handler’s talk show some months back, and while sitting on Asner’s knee, the dialog was as follows:

Chelsea Handler: “You know what? You remind me of my father.”

Asner: “Does your father want to fuck you?”
 I nearly fell out of my chair. I mean, I know people aren’t like their television roles, but DAMN!

It’s one thing to have doubts about the intelligence leading up to the attacks (as you do), and quite another to believe the actual attacks as witnessed by all did not happen in the way that they very evidently did.

Someone could debate me as to whether or not FDR knew Pearl Harbor was going to happen, and I’d listen. If someone tried to tell me that the events at Pearl Harbor were actually carried out by Nazi missiles or bombs that were planted in the ships themselves, then I’d roll my eyes and think poorly of that person.

I’m now left to roll my eyes at Asner and realize he’s an idiot. This sucks, because the character I knew him for groing up was not an idiot. And yes, I realize the difference between actor and character played, hence the post in MPSIMS.

See the difference?

That’s bad luck for a mate of mine. His brush with fame was, going jogging in a park somewhere in the US, he sat down on a bench to have a rest and sitting next to him was Ed Asner. They had a lengthy chat about this, that and the other; and he thought Mr Asner was a terrific fellow.

I think he is a longtime supporter of many causes. You may be singling certain ones out for effect. I have two videos he made supporting the Humane Society, encouraging people to adopt animals, and he wrote an intro to a history book about the Recording Musician’s Association. Radical causes, indeed.

No. I don’t know the specifics of what Asner believes, so that is probably the problem. I’m a firm LIHOP (let it happen on purpose). Bush is far too stupid a turd to have personally wanted it, but the Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. group wanted something like that and definitely made it easier by shifting the emphasis away from terrorism protection.

And in all even handedness, I think that FDR knew his embargo with Japan would lead to war with Japan.

I think that Cheney and his cronies felt that such a Pearl Harbor type event was exactly what their agenda and this country needed.

Well, in his defense, she was sitting on his knee. And she’s hawt.

I just listened to the podcast today. Given that the discussion earlier was on anti-Semitism, it would have been hilarious if Adam mentioned he heard the Jews were behind 9/11.

Beat me to it.

Apparently, Asner is so adamant about this he made an animated movie to educate kids about the conspiracy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_7lXz7dcI0

I was reading this board and I just had to join so I could post. I’m not really sure about any of the 9/11 truth movement myself, but here is why I’m glad Mr. Asner was ballsy enough to step out there. A) You have to admit the commission’s report was pretty flimsy, especially with all those pages in it. B) The truth movement began by the victims’ family members, all they have really are unanswered questions. I know they get a little crazy sometimes, but wouldn’t you if this was your cause? At any rate, Ed Asner is one of the few celebrities to have these questions and the courage to speak them, whether you believe what he says or not, it is nice to see him ask.

No, we don’t because it isn’t flimsy at all. Either you haven’t read it or you don’t understand it.

No, they really don’t. If there were some unanswered questions, you could point to some that haven’t already been addressed dozens of times on this board alone.

Bottom line, you are factually wrong on all counts. And this thread is over a year old, if you want to start a new 9/11 thread please do so and attempt to present evidence that hasn’t been debunked dozens of times already.

LOL I love the interviews he did with Chelsea. Some of the funniest stuff I’ve seen on TV in a long time. One gets the feeling that they are actually friends, and his schtick for her show is the dirty old man routine. She enjoys it, I think- at least getting him to react.

I’m researching a paper on Ed Asner, so that is why I’m looking at this thread. I don’t really want a 9/11 debate, but Ed was speaking up so that people could have their questions answered, or at least heard, which the commission report did not address.

Considering the depth with which you read (seeing as how I’ve already admitted that I just joined this board), you should be able to ascertain that I’m new here and I don’t know of anything posted in any thread before today.
The questions Truthers ask (and there are many prestigious people in the group, not just Ed Asner), that the commission report either brushed over, or did not address (and I’m not saying others haven’t addressed it since, or even that I agree with all or any of it). I’m quoting from them, since you wanted a list: I’d love for you to point me to the thread that answers all of those questions. All due respect intended.

Why were standard operating procedures for dealing with hijacked airliners not followed that day?
Why were the extensive missile batteries and air defenses reportedly deployed around the Pentagon not activated during the attack?
Why did the Secret Service allow Bush to complete his elementary school visit, apparently unconcerned about his safety or that of the schoolchildren?
Why hasn't a single person been fired, penalized, or reprimanded for the gross incompetence we witnessed that day?
Why haven't authorities in the U.S. and abroad published the results of multiple investigations into trading that strongly suggested foreknowledge of specific details of the 9/11 attacks, resulting in tens of millions of dollars of traceable gains?
Why has Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator who claims to have knowledge of advance warnings, been publicly silenced with a gag order requested by Attorney General Ashcroft and granted by a Bush-appointed judge?
How could Flight 77, which reportedly hit the Pentagon, have flown back towards Washington D.C. for 40 minutes without being detected by the FAA's radar or the even superior radar possessed by the US military?
How were the FBI and CIA able to release the names and photos of the alleged hijackers within hours, as well as to visit houses, restaurants, and flight schools they were known to frequent?
What happened to the over 20 documented warnings given our government by 14 foreign intelligence agencies or heads of state?
Why did the Bush administration cover up the fact that the head of the Pakistani intelligence agency was in Washington the week of 9/11 and reportedly had $100,000 wired to Mohamed Atta, considered the ringleader of the hijackers?
Why did the 911 Commission fail to address most of the questions posed by the families of the victims, in addition to almost all of the questions posed here?
Why was Philip Zelikow chosen to be the Executive Director of the ostensibly independent 911 Commission although he had co-authored a book with Condoleezza Rice?

They were. That’s why the attacks were successful.

It was not SOP to target aircraft that have wandered into a restricted area. At the time, there would have been an advisory, and a notice to ‘contact the tower’, perhaps followed by an interception. And no one knew what was going on at the time.

Um… There were no rogue airliners within hundreds or thousands of miles? The President was not under attack.

I could go on, but you can see the pattern. The questions you copied and pasted have already been answered countless times.

pitterpatter, Every single one of your questions has been satisfactorily answered. I suggest you search this message board and other reliable ones like randi.org for that data.

Even if the answer to each question was “I don’t know,” just what do you think that would prove? That 9/11 didn’t happen?

In any case, this thread is about Ed Asner. It would be a good idea if you would start one on your particular topic instead of hijacking this one. But be sure to do your research beforehand, as many of us consider those questions to be tired, meaningless, and the ploy of “Just Asking Questions” is considered JAQing off in many intelligent circles.

Sad, but true.

I never said the Truthers questions were unanswered, just that they had a right to ask them, and that all of them weren’t answered by the commission’s report. I’m talking about them at that time. I don’t want to rehash the past. I know they have been answered for the most part. You guys are misinterpreting my point, but at any rate, thanks for reminding me why I don’t spend much time on message boards anymore.

And to Musicat, everything I’ve said has been about Ed Asner.

Because there was a conspiracy! Now wasn’t that easy!

Of course they have a right to ask them, we also have the right to point at the evidence, and also the fact that the questions were answered many times before, the fact that a few remaining Truthers will never ever like the answers is now grounds to just shake our heads and go forward with our lives.

Well, expecting others to like [del]eating[/del] dealing with 10 year old reheated baloney points is not a good way to start making friends.

lmao
