Actually, I just assumed that rather than being upset at the back and forth self-conversation, they checked the IP of the poster and found something they didn’t like.
I received an e-mail from who I assume is the poster known as weapons grade bullonium, which states:
Since I know absolutely nothing about the guy other than from this thread, I wrote back and advised him to e-mail Lynn and explain it to her.
(And I post this here so there’s evidence of motive if Lynn hunts me down and kills me for siccing him on her. :D)

Boosting his own thread, huh? Yup, three replies in the space of ten minutes seems completely necessary alright, for an ATMB thread. They tend to fall off the front page within an hour. Everybody knows that.
Thanks for referring him to Lynn. Although I don’t think he’ll follow through on that advice.
He doesn’t appear to be claiming that he was trying to keep it from falling off the page. Rather, to get a higher number of posts to the thread, so as to attract more interest in it.
The idea that he thought he was using a different name each alternating time does not seem too likely to me.

This banned username was created by an already registered poster on these boards. That, and only that, is why they were banned. It doesn’t matter how many posts the sock has or whether or not he was trying to alternate between personas (which, ftr, I agree with you that he wasn’t trying to do). The simple fact is that posters aren’t allowed to have more than one registered username here (which I’m pretty sure you already know). Hence, this one was banned.

FTR, I agree with both of you. But I have to wonder if there was anothe name, why wasn’t that one banned? And named?
Using Occam’s Razor, that the simplest explanation is most likely true, I’d say that a)he did the same thing as Whammo, just joking around, and b)that Coldfire got it, but Lynn didn’t, and overreacted.
If that’s wrong, then someone (O.J.) can name the “real poster”.

I think what they’re getting at is that it looks like WGB got banned for doing nothing. Whammo stated that it’s something he’s done before, and provided the link so we could view it.
Currently, without any sort of explanation, this looks like a mod getting ban happy.

The above poster was NOT banned for having an ongoing conversation with himself. Stupipd though it might have been, doing stupid stuff is not grounds in and of itself for banning. Being a jerk, having a sock, breaking other rules combined with doing stupid stuff is!
Look at Coldie’s post above. The poster was banned for other reasons. They log IPs here. They check them. They checked his. He was banned.
I’m not going to get into whether or not Brian should have been banned because it makes no difference what I, you, or WGB think. It appears that WGB was banned for a reason. Not that the Mods just didn’t like his opinion. People have voiced opinions about the banning in the other thread and they weren’t banned.
Okay, enough already.
If you don’t trust us to act in your best interests on this board, there’s really nothing we can say to justify our actions.
Most of us have worked on your behalf for quite a long time now, when are you gonna believe that we aren’t assh–I mean bad people?
