And sometimes they simply deliberately ignore their messages depending on who they come from. There is no other explanation when mods are taking action in some cases and not in others.
Maybe there’s still hope. Fill out the form in triplicate, attach a passport sized photo, copies of your tax returns for the past three years, a notarized certificate that you have kissed the ass of a mod and fucked a goat (or is it the other way around? I’m not sure now.), put all this in a Kraft paper envelope with a good wad of unmarked $20 bills and some prime Belgian chocolate and give it to Vinny Daman who knows how to get it where it counts. Then pray three Hail Marys and hope someone else did not put more cash or chocolate in their envelope. If you are lucky you will see action within a few days.

You know, I had a three page reply typed out. Then I realized that it’s no use. No matter what I say, it’s not going to change many minds. Anyone wanting more of an explanation should feel free to contact me by email.
Your right. Getting half your “report bad posts” completely ignored defies convincing acceptable explanation. Some of us around here don’t feel particularly respected by certain mods, and having a complaint competely ignored can be quite galling.
Recently I reported an insult to myself in GD or GQ, which was completely ignored until I responded several days later with foul language to to a repeated offence by the same poster. Within a couple of hours a mod jumped in giving me a warning and merely a suggestion to the offender to back off.
There was a time when if I reported a bad post I would get action every time even if it was an e-mail giving reasons for no reprimand. That is the way it should be IMHO.

While it would be NICE to be able to respond to every report, sometimes it’s just not possible, especially when one is overwhelmed by a great number of reports. The way it should be and the way things are sometimes conflict.
In this specific case, I would ask you if you noted the reason for the report. When we get an email, it just says who reported something, and the reason given. I would also advise asking all the mods in that particular forum why the action was or wasn’t taken. In looking over the case, it seems that someone insulted your opinion, and not you, whereas you told him to go fuck with himself. You got a mild dis about your opinion, not yourself. I seem to recall that posters are allowed to insult opinions, but not other posters. However, I don’t play in GD very much.
However, I am not one of the mods who made that decision. I’m second guessing here, and as far as I know the subject didn’t come up in the general email loop. So don’t take this as the Final Word on the subject.
