What fast food items are still good (or even better) as leftovers, or bought to be eaten later?
Personally I like cold McNuggets. Most crispy fried items deteriorate very quickly, but McNuggets hold up surprisingly well old and cold.
McDonald Apple pies.
If Chinese take-out counts, I like cold General Tso’s Chicken almost as much as cold homemade fried chicken.
I wouldn’t turn down a cold, hours-old Five Guys double cheeseburger, either.
Domino’s makes a spinach & feta bread that is very good when re-heated.
Gyros, but you have to remove the onions and tomato and as much of the tzatziki sauce as possible. Then heat the meat and pita in the toaster oven and reassemble to eat. (I’ll often get an extra side of tzatziki for the day after.)
- a million. That’s about the only thing I can think of. And I get the extra sauce too.
I think it’s because gyros are essentially meatloaf, and meatloaf always tastes better the next day, when the flavors have had a chance to mingle.
McDonald’s double cheeseburgers plain. You can reheat them in the microwave and they are indistinguishable from the sorry state you purchased them in.
Popeye’s fried chicken
A reheated burrito is usually ok if it has no fresh salad type vegetables in it - then it may be better cold.
Tater tots can be ok if reheated in a skillet.
KFC and fried chicken in general tastes just as good cold. It is a different taste but a good taste.
McD’s double cheese to be sure.
I’ve had a rough week. A broken hip sent my mom to the hospital. While I’m staying at her house, away from home, I bought a bag of 4, and then 2 more to have something quick to eat between hospital/rehab visits.
Got to be careful of the pickles, the microwave makes 'em hotter 'n hell.
Pizza.
Not all pizza, though. In my experience, Pizza Hut pan pizza is terrible cold and not very good reheated. But a New York- or New Haven-style thin crust pizza is sublime reheated and even good cold.
Day old KFC is also good after baking (on a sheet pan) in the toaster over for five to ten minutes.
Arby’s roast beef sandwiches are great reheated, if you remove the bun and the meat. And any toppings or sauce.
…so, you’re eating reheated air?
It’s holistic. The air retains the memory of the sandwich.
So I think in that case it’s still no good.
Wrong woo, man.
“Homeopathy.”
