Edmonton Dopers, what should I see?

I’m going to be in Edmonton for 4 days next weekend and I’d like to know what I should do if I have the opportunity. We’ll be at the mall Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, and then the game on Sunday night, but we have no concrete plans for Sunday morning/afternoon or Monday. We’ll probably go see the gigantic Stanley Cup, but everything else is up in the air. What else should three East Coast girls see in Alberta’s capital? Any restaurant recommendations near West Edmonton Mall? (That’s where our hotel is) I realize there’s not really much time to see a lot, but any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I’m not sure I can help much, but let’s see if others in Edmonton join in (or correct me where I’m wrong):

There are plenty of restaurants in the West Edmonton Mall itself, but IIRC, the Mayfield Dinner Theatre is also near the mall, if you’re into dinner theatre.

Try Whyte Avenue (aka 82 Avenue) between 109th Street and 103rd Street–funky little area, many shops and boutiques, nightclubs, bars and restaurants, and so on.

If “three East Coast girls” want to experience a real western honky-tonk, I’d recommend The Ranch, at 61st Avenue and Calgary Trail. Cowboy hats, country music, and a mechanical bull for the adventurous. It can be a fun night out, if that sounds like your thing.

Not much help, I’m afraid, but I hope it’s useful somehow.

When you say “a game,” do you mean an Oilers’ game? If so, I’m envious enough already. Nothing more to see…

Gold section seats, baby. AND we’re going to the meet and greet on Saturday at the mall. However, much as we would like to, we can’t spend all of our time at Rexall.

Spoons, those are some great suggestions, I’ll definitely look into Whyte Avenue. If anyone else has ideas, keep 'em coming!
