Okay, my dreams are weird. I’ll grant. But sometimes they go over the weird end. Several years ago, for instance, I had a dream about how to build a 3D TV. When I woke up, I went over it again. It would’ve worked.
Last night I dreamed I was in a library or bookstore, loking up Classical stuff. A group of teachers/professors came by and asked me if I knew the word for “donated by a friend” that derived from the Greek. I didn’t, and don’t, and I wonder what my mind was trying to tell me.
Looking up words on th internet this morning, it looks as if something like “philodonation” might fit the bill. But I’ver never heard of such a word, or an english word with such a restricted definition.
This reminds me that I dreamed a card game once. I only have vague notion of the rules, though I knew how to play in the dream, but the Tarot-like design of the cards is very vivid in my mind, even now. I worked up some playable rules, prototyped it and playtested it a few times. It wasn’t das Spiel des Jahres, by any stretch, but I really ought to dig it out and put some more work into it.
I once dreamt about sitting in class and coming to the revelation of a new form of counting with base i | i = sqrt(-1). I got up and immediately wrote an awful poem about it.
