Eeeeehhhh, eh, eh-April...Yeah, life sucks, still...

Send 'em to me. I can deal with them for you.

A poor little kitty lost his life in our backyard yesterday. Sis said the only thing that seemed to be wrong with him was injury to his tail. She said there was a very large orange cat strutting through the back yard as well. Probably the feral neighborhood alpha male. Seems like all of the cats in the neighborhood are orange these days. The poor victim was also orange, so he was probably a sibling of Mr. Butters, who was the one kitten we managed to rescue and tame from last spring’s annual under the back yard shed litter.

So sad.

Wait until you have your first medicare Wellness Exam. It’s supposed to be free to the patient, but don’t ask a question or you’ll get charged for an additional office visit. It’s condescending, insulting, patronizing and feels more like a Jiffy Lube sales pitch. (You really need this engine flush and your power steering fluid changed out! Ka-Ching!)

And apparently you have to explicitly tell the office that you need your first Medicare wellness exam, or they’ll just record it as a regular office visit. Just saying “I’m on Medicare now” doesn’t cut it, as my mom found out last year.

Helena330, Beckdawrek, saje, and TheMysteryWriter thank you all for your kind words. It really does mean a lot. saje, when the time comes, we will be here for you.

I have been avoiding the hell out of that for the last few years although United Healthcare (Motto: we’ll call you many times a day, every day for no apparent reason) keeps pushing it. Hey, if I need the doc, I’ll go, otherwise leave me alone. (as if they ever will)

Dumped. :frowning:

awww. Dude, what happened?

We were together for about a month, and there were just a whole lot of little things. I’m pretty chill when it comes to cleanliness; she needs the bedsheets washed weekly and the floor vacuumed regularly. She had extremely negative reactions to some very common things (most notably we had several arguments where she tried to convince me that dubbed anime is objectively bad and painful for her to watch - fucking dubbed anime, are you serious?!). It came to a head last night when I ate a sandwich on the train, then leaned over two people to get at a garbage can (this is a quirk of how the garbage cans in the Munich S-Bahn are set up). This was apparently so impolite that it earned me the silent treatment for the rest of the night, then we fought over it again in the morning, and she dumped me.

I’m trying my best to be charitable to her here, because, y’know, personal bias and whatnot, and yeah, I am a bit of a slob… But the more I think about it the more I think I dodged a bullet.

It’s just that this on top of a former friend of mine going on a 5-day-long harassment campaign against me and my ex who I had been good friends with blocking me, it’s been… just one hell of a week.

Oh, man. I’m sorry. I agree you may have dodged a bullet there. Here’s to better days to come. Do something nice for yourself. Vent here if you need to. I’ll listen.

On my commute home, there’s an intersection where 2 lanes turn, then merge into one. Pretty much everyone adheres to “you go then I go” to make the transition smoothly.

Except for the LYFT driver in the gray Elantra who absolutely, positively could NOT permit me to merge. I was signaling, I was keeping pace, but she had to be in front of me for whatever reason. Yeah, fine, doesn’t play well with others…

I continued behind her for another 10 miles or so, watching her slalom from the lane to the shoulder and back again, sometimes going a fair distance straddling the line dividing the road from the shoulder. (We have a lot of Amish in this county, so the shoulders are pretty wide and paved for their buggies.) I also saw her pretty much riding the bumper of the car ahead of her. I suspect texting may have been involved, but that’s just speculation.

It was more shaking-my-head than road-raging. It wasn’t a big thing, and once the road widened again, I got past her, so it’s not like it delayed me getting home. But, sheesh, how unaware must you be to NOT see how everyone ahead of you is taking turns? Is courtesy dead?

This is what I posted on the Norms Restaurant FB page this morning:

(Mr. Balis refers to Jim Balis, who bought the chain from the Roybark family in 2014. Records show that he was in Boise, ID in 2011.)

All or most of the Pizza Huts in Orange County are owned by one company. They have a similar policy of charging a service fee for having to provide service in California. This was on my last receipt:

“Due to the rising cost of doing business in California, all transactions will be charged a service fee to offset this cost”

We now pay more to get good pizza from a local shop.

How the fuck does this week keep getting worse?!

Now I’m banned from Discord for “Threats, Harassment, or Violence”. I have no idea what they’re talking about, because it just ain’t true (there wasn’t any of that on my account or my server), but I know for a fact that a certain fucking lawyer who I mentioned in post 18 probably has something to do with it. I ran a community there with some 300 people. It was my main escape, as well as a financial venture, as it tied directly into my Patreon. Now it’s gone.

I don’t know what to do. Discord won’t reinstate my account. This lying sack of fucking pig shit out in Boise is out to fucking ruin me. I don’t know what to do.

They won’t explain the exact nature of the complaint?

Yeah, you’d think that they’d have some documentation of the alleged violations in case they got challenged.

Did you contact their Trust and Safety team? (email: abuse@discordapp.com).

Yes, I did. I made it clear that I don’t know what’s going on or the nature of the complaints against me. Their response: “We’ve looked into the original report and have confirmed the violation of our Terms of Service. We will not be reinstating the account.” From what others have told me it has to do with statements along the lines of “I’m gonna kill someone” - jokes made to a private audience not targeting any individual reported by bad-faith assholes.

I’m just so fucking done.

This could probably go in the Workplace Rants thread but this one was closer to the top and easier to find.

I was working from home for a while this morning, then had to run an errand before heading into the office. Get to work, fire up the laptop, and the display is not working. (I see the mouse pointer, but everything else is black.) So I call the Help Desk and they said they would open a ticket to have our local IT guys take a look. And he said he’d open it as Critical since I can’t do squat without my laptop.

Two hours later, still no peep from IT. And this isn’t the first time I’ve waited a couple of hours for them to respond to a “critical” issue. It’s frustrating because I’m just sitting twiddling my thumbs waiting for them to show up… Argh…

And now the IT guy shows up, powers it up, and it comes right up. WTF?!? I’ve done that half a dozen times already this morning!

What’s really annoying is, I used to be that guy. Something’s not working? Well, it works for me! I guess I’ve lost my touch.
