Eh, this is just their way of trying to get the target audience (young men) to think science is cool.
I am in favor of anything that makes the average person more interested in science (I think it’s ridiculous how ignorant most people are about science - I recall seeing a poll a while back that showed a fair number of people out there think that the sun orbits the earth).
I’m sure there’s ways of making science appeal to kids without wrapping it up in douchebaggery. Besides, they seem to forget that swearing is the province of the uneducated motherfucker.
I’ve never seen the show. But I have to question the premises that
It’s for children and
It’s educational
I googled it and the first thing that came up was “Effing Science: Why 420 Makes You Hungry”. It’s really straining me to believe that this is a show intended for or marketed to kids. Do you consider Mythbusters to be a kids show just because it’s nominally informative? I certainly don’t. How about Manswers?
I’m struggling to even really call it educational. Seems more like edutainment, or just plain old reality show.
They really should have just gone all out and called it “Effing Science, How Does it Work?”
