The Christopher Steele dossier is most likely accurate. I don’t think Trump took part in the sexual activities (likely he was disgusted by them but put on a game face) but he may have been in the room with a bunch of men when women were putting on some show. It makes sense that Putin would attempt to get blackmail material on any US powerbroker and would have arranged such a thing. The CIA probably deems Trump a security threat and will attempt to ruin him. First to go was Flynn (thank god). Now Russia deploys missiles in apparent treaty violation. Is Russia turning the screws on Donald?
Why would Russia turn the screws on Trump?
I’m surprised more GOP congressmen aren’t standing up to him. I expected McCain and Graham to put up more of a fight.
I do think the intelligence agencies will make sure every scandal he has gets into the mainstream though.
I think he means the demonic Putin is beginning to exact his payment from our modern day Faust.
For giving him the election by something something, revealing the truth to those too stupid to understand, something something.
Well if Flynn spoke of lifting Russian sanctions, and Flynn is now gone, it would make sense for Russia to remind Trump what they can do to him.
Yesterday I saw a clip from Morning Joe (why do I feel a need to disclaim that I ordinarily NEVER watch this show?!) where JS was on a real tear about Stephen Miller and said how it’s not even necessary for Trump to send this person out to start issuing “autocratic” spew because if they were just smart about it, they’d get everything they want without being such (as JS put it) sore losers trying to pick fights.
Then, to your point, he started ranting about how stupid Trump is for continuing to bad-mouth our intel people, presumably including the CIA. JS said something like, “They don’t stand for this kind of crap. They will tear you to shreds.” Meaning the intel community will tear Trump to shreds. Or as you said, “ruin him.” It’s like the guy has no idea he’s toying with live grenades, it’s all just a big game to him but some of these people play for keeps.
According to Foreign Policy magazine, Russia is getting a little nervous. They thought Trump would be controllable and let them annex the Ukraine and what they got is someone volatile. His actions may be strengthening an EU just when it looked like it would collapse (and Russia would love to see the EU collapse). Putin doesn’t need North Korean missile tests any more than we do (nor does China). Putin has his own issues with Islamic fundamentalist (see Chechnya), and stirring that pot isn’t going to benefit Russia either.
So, yeah, Russia might be having a little buyers remorse and trying to figure out what the return policy is. If that return policy involves throwing its own people under the bus (we - Putin and the Russian government - didn’t influence the U.S. elections, but these rogue agents - look at what they did), they’ll do it. Hell, they might be willing to manufacture evidence if they need to.
Now, whether they have buyers remorse, or whether the plan all along was to distract us with a three ring circus - then turn on the lights and continue to cause chaos, who knows.
He’s a lunatic with nuclear weapons; they aren’t going to dare turn any screws, as that would risk them all being killed.
I doubt Russia will take down Trump. If they leak information that results in Trump being removed from office President Pence would go extremely hawkish to distance himself from Trump as much as possible (Clinton would like a dove by comparison). There’s no change of Putin trying to have Trump killed either, since that would trigger World War III.
I don’t think they got someone volatile, they just got someone stupid.
Putin is used to dealing with smart, capable people. Many of those people might be demagogues with a rather tilted view of politics, but they’ve all got enough sense to not do things like blab about the secret meetings they’re having with the enemy over Twitter…repeatedly.
Hilarious and terrifying.
Borowitz’s satire got me though the election.
