El Camino Christmas

Original Netflix movie. I just watched it and am conflicted as to whether its good or not. I thought for sure it had something to do with a Chevy El Camino, but it turns out to be a Chevelle SS 396 convertible, and it has some great cast members.

Vincent D’Ornofio in particular is good. Tim Allen is great. It’s one of those “feel bad but feel good because it’s Christmas” movies. It’s worth a watch, but not overtly compelling…until it is.

Judge for yourself. Worth a quick watch.

I watched it last night and agree. It was a different christmas movie. Liked seeing Tim Allen in a more serious roll. I also did not like the very last scene as it was so not needed and changed the tone of the movie.

You could see the identity reveal coming a mile away, but I liked it. The cast was excellent and I loved the music.

But, how was the car?

We watched it last night and when we finished, I wasn’t sure whether I was glad I watched it or not. Definitely not a traditional feel good Christmas movie. Plenty of humorous parts, good cast, good music. I’m glad they tacked on the epilogue.

The title would have hooked me too for the same reason. If there was no El Camino I’d usually end up disappointed but if you pull a bait and switch on me, and the switch is to Chevelle SS convertible I’m not going to mind. Methinks I’ll watch this movie.

You’re speaking my language, sir!

I watched this over the weekend. Interesting, quirky, dark comedy, formulaic but well done. It’s no Die Hard, but it’s a good enough shoot 'em up Christmas movie. I was surprised by the star studded cast, good performances. Another tour de force for Vincent D’Onofrio, one of the most versatile actors out there. Dax Shepard demonstrates his comedy chops once again. Tim Allen shows his natural talent for portraying broken down drunks. Jessica Alba is barely seen but always good to see. Kurtwood Smith is a great character actor, perfect for this role. I highly recommend seeing this movie.
