Do summons disappear after a fixed amount of time or are they permanent with you as long as you don’t leave the summon zone? Specifically ones like Jellyfish, the skeletons, and the original wolves(Summon Ashes).
I saw one blinking after awhile and it whooshed out of existence.
Can you summon immediately after one disappears or it is only limited to your FP?
I’ve hit a couple of areas where the summon symbol comes on screen and instead of a boss or major enemy, it’s really just a highly combative area.
They are with you permanently within the summon zone. They will flash when you’re leaving the zone.
You can summon a particular spirit ash once per Rest at a grace. So if you run out of a zone and run back in, you won’t be able to summon the same one, regardless of FP/MP
You’ll eventually find gear that let you change the stat scaling on normal weapons (those that are upgraded with normal smithing stones).
The one that lets you choose between str/dex scaling is in Stormveil castle; you’re very close!
You can only see status buildup on your character. For enemies, you have to keep hitting them and hope that they’re not immune to that particular status effect. Few foes are outright immune to bleed, however, and most weapons that have innate bleed hit fast, so it’s very easy to apply!
No none of them are permanent. They all have HP just like you and when they die you can’t resummon them again until you rest at a bonfire. This goes for summons and spirit ashes.
They will despawn if you leave the summon area. That’s what’s happening when you see the blinking.
What I don’t know, because it doesn’t really come up that often, is if it treats de-summoning the same as death. I don’t know if you can summon again after they despawn due to leaving area, rather than death.
You can absolutely summon another spirit after one dies though, assuming you have the FP.
This isn’t true. I just tried it, and you can’t! There might be subtleties I don’t understand, as I’m sure I’ve done it before, but I couldn’t do it in a fight against Astel today.
I have played a lot the last few days and am also off tomorrow. Here is what I have achieved.
Beat Magrit. Summons helped.
Explored the castle Stormveil and defeated its boss Godrick. Summons helped.
Entered Liurnia Lake area.
Wandered somewhat extensively around Liurnia…but not progressed storywise around here. I presume the academy is the place to go. I found a big turtle with a pope that seemed to indicate so.
My thoughts and questions:
I have no idea how to reach the tower to activate the Great Rune I earned. I think I see it in the castle, but I don’t know how to get up to it. I’ll have to find a youtube video just to get there.
I had a heck of a time reaching the Academy building. I tried a Western path and got nowhere. I tried an eastern path and hit broken bridges and dead ends. I finally went through the water and got there. Very laborious, but I made it. It’s locked and I grabbed a map…that I don’t know how to use. It clearly is supposed to lead to the item I need to open the Academy, but does…the map put a mark on my map or something?
I am just going to have to Google quests at this point. I think the lack of journal or log is totally unnecessary.
To activate the Godrick’s Great Rune, you need to head ENE out of the main courtyard of the castle. There’s a lion that guards the gate, but if you can get through the gate, it won’t chase. Run across the bridge, dodge the giants if you need, and take the portal at the end. Climb the tower and use the rune at the top. To USE the rune, you need to use a rune arc. They’re around from place to place. Don’t be afraid to use them, you’ll pick them up a couple times an hour on average and are farmable from giant rats.
To get into the Academy requires a key that’s at the location marked on the map (pretty sure you have to use it from inventory to see the location). It’s an island on the west side of the Academy, guarded by a glinstone dragon. If you don’t want to fight the dragon, you can sneak around the back and grab the key. Once you have the key, make your way through the gate town and use it at the sigil to move through. Easy peasy, aside from all the people and monsters trying to kill you.
I found an island northern Liurnia that asked me to find “three wise beasts”. I found two ghost turtles and killed them, figuring out this is what they want me to do. Could not find the third one. I finally looked it up and it was NOT there. ???
I had warped once tot he island’s Lost Grace…and the final turtle had disappeared. I had to read the sign again at the tower entrance to get it to reappear.
Did it, but this should be patched. I had been in the right spot numerous times but it had disappeared until I re-read the sign. Annoying.
Thanks, I know where to go. Is the Academy the likely next area for me to go, then? Seems like it.
I have tried the Western road that goes up by a minor Erdtree and for the life of me, I can not get very far on that road. The eastern road lead a long way, but never got me to the Academy.
Yes, the Academy is pretty much the next step. There’s quite a bit to do in Liurnia, but the Academy isn’t as much the end point of the area like Godrick’s castle was, but still necessary to advance.
I found another statue that is kind of gargoyle like. When you observe it, a blue streak of light comes out of it. I thought it would be pointing to a mini-dungeon entrance, but I never found the dungeon. It was NE Liurnia, I believe.
Anyway, I’m just kind of riding around. I still can not access Western Liurnia, like the west coast(?) of it. I rode that way, but there is a massive cliff and when you are down in the lake/swamp area, you can not get up there.
The blue line goes directly to the door. If the blue line disappears into the ground, that means the site is below, possibly at the bottom of a nearby cliff.
After you get a Great Rune and power it up and check that major boss of the list, is there something I should be doing storywise to get tips on where to go and what to do?
I did a bit of Googling and there is supposed to be a guy named Gideon back at Roundtable Hold. Looks like Sauron, helmet wearing, I think?
I have not seen him there and if I met him, I never saw any office or table he sets up at.
Is that what I should be doing after defeating a big-dungeon-boss? Checking in with him?
I get it. Almost no guidance from the game…but I could use some kind of “hey, you did it, now try to go here” or something. I’m exploring Lake region and the Academy is obviously the goal. But should I be checking in with someone?
