Election Day Omnibus thread

I have good friends in Southern MO, and they all voted Kamala (4 votes only, from very strong Democrats, but they did early voting and are quite involved in their community, too).

I know MO is as bright red as the nose on a clown, but we had important votes for the Abortion Amendment 3 as well as possibly voting out Josh Hawley, so yeh, we are stuck with out electors going for Trump but St Louis, KC, and Columbia are blue areas, and are thorns in the side. And thorns like that hurt. I am sorry for those who suffer flooding, bc so often this happens in the poorest areas of the state, but they will keep voting Republican…

Though Guam has predicted the outcome accurately every election since it incorrectly predicted a Carter win in 1980 (with only one other exception, it predicted a Clinton win in 2016). Hence why there is a tongue-in-cheek early confirmation of a Harris victory.

“Non credible” bomb threats at polling places in Georgia. According to the Georgia Secretary of States - a Republican - they were from Russia.

My phone just rang, and the caller ID says somebody’s calling from Enigma, Georgia.

Since what Georgia is doing may be an enigma for a while I pass this information on to you. I did not, however, pick up the phone, as I doubt whoever’s calling had an answer. I don’t know whether there even is an Enigma, Georgia; and they don’t appear to have left a message. – huh. Yes, there is such a place.

Is Enigma in Georgia (USA) or in Georgia (Caucasus)?

There’s one in the USA. I don’t know whether there’s one in the Caucasus. ETA: but if there is, it wasn’t at the top of the results.

I’m streaming NBC on YouTube and am curious about a phenomenon I’ve noticed before. When it goes into a commercial break it streams only news snippets and promos for NBC programs, not the OTA commercials. This has been true for other streamers and for non-political streaming like weather events or yet another school shooting.

One would think they would like to add the 40k pairs of eyes currently streaming to the broadcast count. Is there some sort of reason YT might prohibit commercial television’s ads off if its service?

Maybe the Riddler is doing campaign calls now? I thought he got kicked off the Trump campaign after he asked the Donald: “Riddle me this: what kind of suit does no man want to get yet no man wants to lose?

(The Joker’s definitely not a GOP fan - he hates Nazis)

I get that. I just wanted to work up the members that are convinced the 269-269 EVs is going to the House for a vote.

Harris campaign says they’ve knocked on more than 100,000 doors in Pennsylvania this morning

From CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez and Abby Phillip

A Harris campaign official says that as of 11 a.m. ET, this morning, more than 100,000 doors have been knocked on by campaign staffers and volunteers across the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Can campaign workers drive you to the polls or ballot drop box?

The Secretary of State for Georgia (the one in the USA) said that various precincts have been getting bomb threats this afternoon. He thinks it’s Russia…

Enigma, Georgia (U.S.) has about a thousand people.

LOL, I totally understand that.

I’ve been sleeping well but I immediately go into a state of severe anxiety the second I wake up. Then I calm down a bit as I start to regain my senses, but the early morning shocks are getting to me.

Autocorrect: Second only to O-rings as the bane of modern civilization.

Tonight I will be playing Factorio with the election results on in the background.

Thanks! Fixed it.

Yup, that’s what the top link said. A bit over 1200, I think it was.

As a Republican-at-heart still, I ask you Democrats that you forget everything you learned about how to run a presidential campaign from Harris’ run this year. Please go back to your old ways in 2028.

I feel like when calling myself a Republican I have to add “non-MAGA”; like a few years ago when I’d cough I’d follow it up immediately with “not COVID”.

Voted here in N. Alabama around 10am, which is supposed to be a ‘slower’ time, and line was out of the building and parking was on the grass. Took about 25 minutes to get my ballot, but the crowds were quiet and mannerly. Didn’t see any Trump or Harris signs outside, which is not too surprising as this is a very red state so neither candidate was putting too much in it.

Am mildly hopeful that the large turnout will equate to a good performance by Harris in this Metro area, which has a lot of folks living here from other states due to the US Army and NASA (and associated industries) having a large presence, but have no doubt Trump will take it…but maybe just a bit closer than expected…
