* * * ! Official 2016 US Presidential Election Day Thread ! * * *

I wanted to make this thread tomorrow, but I will be working at the polls starting at 6AM. It’s going to be a long 16 hour day for me, but I will have frequent breaks, so I can check in here to see how things are going.

There are so many threads in the “Elections” forum, that I thought it would be nice to have one thread to check for election day results.

Post your real-time state updates, interesting things seen at the polls, or anything else having to do with election day 2016.

I will be very glad when this is over. What a ride it’s been.

I just want to tell you good luck. We’re all counting on you.

From here in London suffering from the consequences of our own Trump-like vote earlier this year, let us be an example for you to avoid. Good luck.

Surely you can’t be serious?

He is.

And don’t call him Shirley.

Airplane! quote fail reported.

Be nice you. :stuck_out_tongue:

This has been a different kind of campaign, altogether.

This has been a different kind of campaign
(PS - good luck tomorrow Honey)

I’m going to give this thread my official imprimatur. I’d planned to open one tonight.

I will do so for both the House and the Senate as well.

I will just be sitting at a desk all day, crossing people’s names off the list. I’m sure I’ll be bored out of my mind at times. My little village has a population of about 4,000 and there are 4 different polling locations.

I really shouldn’t have added that part about me working the polls in my OP. I don’t want this thread to be about me. I just wanted to explain why I created the thread a day early. Thank you for the well wishes though.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Don’t let anything keep you from voting.

May I suggest one for state proposals as well?

I think that’s a good idea.

I will be on edge all night. I’m going to try to watch Mad Max: Fury Road, but I’ll be on the internet . I told my wife it will serve as a preview of the world if Trump wins.

Thank you for your support. I didn’t mean to step on anyone’s toes.

You’re a lot more optimistic than I about female empowerment in that world.

I’m getting up tomorrow morning at 4:18 to start working at the polls at 5 AM.

If there is a line out the door at 9 PM, we’ll be staying late. In 2014 I got out around 10:20 PM. I’m guessing about seventeen to seventeen and a half hours for me. Long freaking day and I won’t have the energy to party after.

Just saying - if you vote tomorrow and the poll worker looks sleepy, you’re right.

I’ve talked about this with several friends. We can’t decide whether we want to watch the play-by-play, blow-by-blow, drop-by-drop (cf. Chinese water torture-- are we allowed to say that? Is it now Asian water torture?) or just crawl under the covers around 5:00 pm on Tuesday with a fifth of something and not look at TV or internet until about 11:00 am on Wednesday. This is going to be difficult. Like 24-hour labor.

I’ll have to see the full official text of your suggestion, as well as an opposing view written by an appropriate party before I can decide if I support this.
