I went in tonight and did my civic duty by voting. After marking my vote for Gore, I took a look over the minor party and their candidates. I saw something odd. On the Libertarian line there were TWO presidential candidates listed, Harry Browne(which makes sense) and Al Gore. Al Gore? Libertarian? HUH?? And why are there two candidates listed on the same line?
NOTNS,
Sounds like a mistake to me…there is no way in Hell that Harry Browne would associate with Al Gore on any level government wise.
FWIW, Browne’s VP running-mate is Art Olivier.
< coming from someone that voted for Browne and Olivier and checked her ballot VERY carefully >
Do you live in Florida? They were having some serious problems with ballot listings.
Oops sorry, I should have said where eh? I live in New York, on Long Island.
Take a look at this. Doesn’t seem overwhelmingly confusing. Even if it was, and all of Buchanan’s votes were intended for Gore, Gore would be down 94,000 votes instead of 112,000 (with 91% of precincts reporting). With all the old folks down there, one would have to think that at least some of the votes for Buchanan were intentional.
If you were in New York, you might have seen Gore listed on the line for “Liberal” party and thought it was “Libertarian”.
Or it could have been a typo. But there is a Liberal Party in New York.
No I know that. Gore had that. But on the libertian line there were two candidates side by side, Browne and Gore. Typo or not, it was definately on the same line.
